    Double fertilization is the process in plant reproduction where two sperm cells from a pollen grain fertilize cells in the ovule of the flower. One sperm cell fertilizes the egg cell to form the embryo, while the second sperm cell fuses with two polar nuclei in the ovule to form the endosperm, which provides nutrition for the developing seed. The pollen tube carries the two sperm cells from the pollen grain all the way to the ovule, where one sperm cell fertilizes the egg and the other fertilizes the central cell, leading to the formation of seed through a process called double fertilization.
