BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY
Background of the Study
Flood prevention and mitigation are crucial
aspects of disaster management and the well-
being of communities everywhere in the world.
Floods and typhoons are expectedly to happen
more frequently and with greater ferocity in
several regions, especially Philippines.
Due to light to moderate rain happen at
Poblacion East 1, Aliaga, Nueva Ecija, the area
experienced flood in just short period of time
despite that the topography of the area is not
that lower to surrounding barangays, still the
area is flooded.
OBJECTIVES
Objectives of the Study
• Due to rainfall, sudden floods occur in some
portions of Aliaga, Nueva Ecija Town Proper.
The main objective of our topic is to determine
the reason of flooding using hydrological
analysis and reducing the chances of flood
located at Poblacion East I

METHODOLOGY
Research Design and Methodology
• The scheme used in this study was causal-
comparative research. Causal research also
known as explanatory research is conducted in
order to identify the extent and nature of
cause-and-effect relationships.
RESEARCH SETTING AND
RESPONDENTS
Research Setting and Respondents
• The study will be conducted in the area where
floods occur due to poor drainage system
located at Poblacion East I, Aliaga, Nueva
Ecija, Philippines.
• The computed respondents of the study were the
selected population of Población East I and
participants from flood management office of
municipality of Aliaga, Nueva Ecija is to be
637 household and 4 flood management officers.
DATA GATHERING PROCEDURE
AND INSSTRUMENT

Instrument
• The researchers sought for permission to
conduct the study to the concerned management
of chosen respondents of the study and observe
the setting of research. After, the researchers
allow to gather data by using two methods, the
interview method and observation method.
Interview method is a one-on-one discussion
between the researchers and respondents and
observation method is to see or notice
something or someone in the research setting.
The instruments used are observation method and
interview method using questionnaire guide.
TREATMENT OF DATA
Treatment of Data
• After data were collected, it is subjected to
statistical measures and analysis. In terms of
percentage, weighted mean, and Pearson’s Chi-
square test.
