    CONVENTIONAL SURVEY
    • initial planning is carried out on the basis of available Survey of India
    (SOI) Topographical maps in various scales mainly 1:50,000 and
    1:25,000 with contour interval of 20m to 40m.
    • old equipments like prismatic compass, clinometer, Abney level/ Alti-
    meter, Pedometer, Aneroid barometer, Clinometer, Ghat tracer etc.
    were being used.
    CLINOMETER:- Angle
    Abney level/ Alti-meter:- Angle
    Pedometer:- Steps
    Aneroid barometer:- Altitude
    Ghat tracer:- Setting out a grade contoure
