SPEED,

DISTANCE,
TIME?
OBJECTIVES 1. Describe the relationship among distance,
speed, and time
2. Calculate the speed, distance and time.
3. Give importance the values of virtues and
apply it in everyday living.
4. Participate actively in a meaningful
discussion and integrate it in a real-life
situation
REVIEW
Let the students summarize the previous
lesson.
MOTIVATION
Let the students guess the following figures and let
them perform the next
MATTHEW 28:7-8
Go quickly and tell His disciples that
He has risen from the dead; and behold,
He is going ahead of you into Galilee,
there you will see Him; behold, I have
told you.” And they left the tomb
quickly with fear and great joy and ran
to report it to His disciples.

QUESTIONS
1. What will you do if you are the
one who saw Jesus risen from the
dead?
2. What did you feel if you saw a
people who rise from the dead?
3. How do you apply this passage
in your everyday living?
4. What is speed, distance, time and
how do you solve it
What is Speed? Speed measures how
fast an object moves
from one place to
another. It is equal to
the distance traveled
divided by the time.
.
Example: A motorist
takes 6 hours to travel
300 km. Find his speed
Speed = distance ÷ time
Sol. 300 km ÷ 6h =
50km/h
What is Distance? Distance is a numerical
measurement of how far
apart objects or points
are.
The distance traveled by
an object can be
computed by multiplying
. the speed of the object
and the time spent to
cover the distance.
A car is travelling at a speed
of 50km/h. how far can it
travel in 6 hours?
Distance = Speed x Time
Sol. 50km/h x 6 h = 300 km
What is Time? Time-is the interval
separating two events.
- the continued sequence
of existence and events
that occurs in and
apparently irreversible
succession from the past,
. through the present, into
the future.
Marlon jogged at a speed of
5 m/s. How long did it take
him to jog a distance of 200
m?
Time = distance ÷ speed
Sol. 200m ÷5m/s = 40 s
Other example
1. If it takes 3 hours to drive a distance
of 192 km on a motorway, what would
be your average speed in km/h?
2. Sally runs at a pace of 8 km/h. If she
ran for a period of four hours, how far
has she travelled?
3. If you were travelling at 35 miles
per hour, how long would it take to travel
a distance of 70 miles
Try This!
1. A CAR TRAVELS AT THE RATE OF 60 KM/H. HOW
MANY HOURS WILL IT TAKE THE CAR TO TRAVEL 180
KM?

2. AN ATHLETE RUNS 24 KM IN 2 HOURS. WHAT IS HIS
SPEED?

3. IT TAKES KESTER 10 MINUTES TO WALK FROM THE
BUS STATION TO HIS HOUSE. HOW FAR IS HIS HOUSE
FROM THE BUS STATION IF HE WALKS AT THE SPEED
OF 60 METERS PER MINUTE?
