A. Definition of Descriptive

Descriptive Text is a type of text that is widely used in everyday life

in describing objects, places, people, animals and so on. Descriptive
Text is an English text to describe what the object or living thing
that we are describing looks like, either in appearance, smell, sound,
or texture of the object or living thing.
B. Generic Structure Descriptive Text
1.Identification
Identification is part of the Descriptive Text which contains an introduction in the form of an overview of the topic
or "what" will be described or described. This section in the first paragraph aims to identify something that you want
to describe or describe.,The simple explanation, indentification works to introduce to the reader about the object or
something we will describe
. before we tell about its properties. The purpose is so that the reader does not get the
wrong person. We want to describe a car for example, but the reader thinks it's a motor.
Example: you are asked to describe your new car, then the contents of the identification are: My father just
bought a new car. I actually wanted this car for a long time, but only now did my father buy it. (Meaning that will
be depicted is my car, not someone else's car).

2.Description
Description is the last part of the descriptive text which contains about the discussion or description of the topic or
"what" is there in Identification regarding physical appearance, quality, general behavior and characteristics. This
section - in the second paragraph and so on - contains the inherent characteristics of something that you have
introduced to the reader first paragraph.
For example (continuing about the car above): My new car is the latest sports car from Toyota. There are only
two seats, one for the driver and one for the passenger, as well as the door. This car can accelerate to speeds of 500
km / h, almost the same as the speed of the Foker type aircraft.
C. Characteristics of Descriptive Text
1.Using the simple present tense
Descriptive uses the simple present tense to explain a fact or truth contained in a thing or
person.
2.Using many adjectives
Adjectives are known by adjectives, such as good-bad, big-small. Adjectives are used
because descriptive text will explain the properties of an object, human, or animal.
3.There is a Relating Verb
Relating verb is a type of verb that tries to connect to the explanation of the noun that is
the subject, such as be, have, seem. Descriptive text uses a lot of relating verbs as a liaison
between the subject and the explanation.
4.Descriptive text has only one focus, namely to describe one object.
