Liza was
getting ready
for the IP day
celebration in
Barangay
Bagong
Negros.
She needed to
acquire the
necessary Ethnic
Cloth for her Blaan
dress, and her
mother had
entrusted her with
this task.
With
determination,
Liza headed to the
nearest cloth
seller's shop.
Upon arriving at
the shop, Liza
inquired about the
price of the Ethnic
Cloth suitable for
her dress.
The seller, a
friendly woman
named Rosa,
smiled and said,
"The price is 50.25
pesos per square
meter."
Liza had already
calculated that she
needed 3.2 meters
of cloth for her
dress, so she asked
Rosa to calculate
the total for her.
Rosa quickly did
the math and said,
"Alright, for 3.2
meters of cloth at
50.25 pesos per
square meter, the
total comes to
160.8 pesos."
Liza was relieved
to know the total
cost and paid Rosa
for the cloth. She
thanked Rosa and
headed back home
with the precious
fabric in hand.
However, as Liza
walked home, she
realized that she
had forgotten the
exact price for the
3.2 meters of
cloth.
If you are in the
part of Liza and
your mother ask
you how much the
seller quoted for
the price, what
would your
response be?

REAL LIFE APPLICATIONS
Grocery Shopping: When
you go grocery shopping with
your parents, estimating the
total cost of items can be
useful. You can round the
prices to the nearest dollar or
cent and then estimate the
total cost before reaching the
checkout counter.
REAL LIFE APPLICATIONS
Measurement: When you
are building something or
doing DIY projects, you might
need to estimate
measurements. For instance,
if you're building a bookshelf,
you can estimate the length
of the wood pieces you'll
need.
REAL LIFE APPLICATIONS
Time Management:
Estimating time is also
important. You can use this
skill to estimate how long it
will take you to finish
homework, read a book, or
complete chores. This helps
you plan your day effectively.
ESTIMATE THE PRODUCT OF THE FOLLOWING
1) 6.5 X 5.6
2) 10.1 X 10.2
3) 5.7 X 6.1
4) 4.2 X 3.1
5) 7.6 X 9.7
Homework:
The school's soccer team is selling tickets for their upcoming game.
Each ticket costs $8.25, and they plan to sell 156 tickets to raise
money.

Estimate the total amount of money the soccer team will collect from
selling the tickets.
