TOPIC- WORK AND ENERGY
INTRODUCTION
CONDITIONS OF THE WORK TO BE

DONE.
1. force of person
2. force of gravity
3. displacment
Guiding questions
1. Imagine a world without energy.
What would be missing? How would
our lives be different?
 A world without energy would have no power
for important functions and would disturb
daily life , transportation, communication,
heating, cooling, etc would be limited, that
can make less productivity and comfort. Many
other important services like healthcare and
factories would struggle, leading to a
significant decrease in social development.
 2. If we use too much energy, what are the consequences
for our planet and health? What are some renewable
energy sources, and why are they crucial for the future?
 Ans. A lot of energy consumption leads to harming the
environment and causing climate change , air, water and
land pollution. It harms, wildlife, and increases health
risks for humans. Some renewable energy sources are
solar, wind, and hydroelectric power, they are crucial for
the future as they are eco friendly and do not harm our
environment and are also not limited unlike non-
renewable resources.
 3. How do scientists and engineers use their
knowledge of work and energy to solve problems
and create new technologies? Can you think of
examples of inventions that make our lives easier
or more efficient through work and energy
principles?
 Ans. Scientists and engineers use their
understanding of work and energy to design things
that solve problems and make our lives easier. For
example a bike . Engineers use the principles of
energy to make engines that can turn petroleum,
diesel and electricity into a movement that makes it
possible to travel easily. Some examples of things
that made by scientists that made our lives easier
are bikes, cars, generators, motors etc.
 4. Can machines help us do more work and
use less energy? How do simple machines like
levers and pulleys work, and how are they
used in our homes and the world around us?
 Ans. Yes, machines can help us do more

work and use less energy. A lever has

principles like a seesaw. It helps lift heavy
objects with less effort. Pulleys use wheels
and ropes to lift things. pulleys are used in
elevators and lever they are just like shovel
used for digging in gardens.
 5. What personal choices can we make in our
daily lives to conserve energy and reduce our
environmental impact?
 ANS. The personal choices we can make in

our life to reduce our environmental impact

are, switching off lights and fans when not in
use, use electric cars instead of petrol or
diesel cars , using public transportation ,
carpooling etc.
HOOK ACTIVITY 1

Exploring Force
and Work:

Rubber Band Pull:

 Stretch a rubber band
and attach it to a toy
car or block. Measure
the distance the
object moves when
the rubber band
snaps, demonstrating
the connection
HOOK ACTIVITY 2 between force and
work.
Understanding Different Energy Forms:
Ice Cube Race: Place ice cubes in separate trays
and sprinkle salt on one. Observe how the salted
ice melts faster, demonstrating the effect of
temperature on kinetic energy of molecules.

Music Maker: Stretch few rubber bands around

an empty box and pluck them like a guitar
string. Listen to the different sounds produced
by varying the tension and plucking technique,
exploring sound vibrations as a form of energy.

REFLECTION 2 Marks
1. Comic Strip Challenge:

Students create a comic strip

Add you pic with your fireless depicting a character doing
activities that involve work
and energy. Each panel
should show the force being
applied, the object moving,
and the energy transfer
involved.
Ideas: Pushing a swing,
riding a bike uphill, lifting a
box, bouncing a ball.
You can use funny
dialogues and cartoon
pictures to enhance the
story.
