give the last member of the group an
emoji and will pass the emoji using
facial expression.
The first group who will copy the right
emoji wins the game.

OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, the students should be
able to;
• define recreation and recreational activities;
• appreciate the nature and background of recreation;
and
• explain the importance of recreational activities.
What is recreation?
– Derived from the latin word “recreare” which means to be refreshed.
– Relaxing the mind and the body.
– Relieves a day-to-day tension

Recreation refers to all those activities that people choose to do to


refresh their bodies and minds and make their leisure time more
interesting and enjoyable. Examples of recreation activities are
walking, swimming, meditation, reading, playing games and dancing.
Recreational Activities

– Are often done for enjoyment, amusement, or


pleasure and are considered to be “fun”.
– Gives opportunity to be creative, to express
basic needs, and to be your real self.
Classifications of Recreational
Activities

–SPECTATOR TYPE
–PARTICIPANT TYPE
SPECTATOR TYPE
– • People spend their time watching the event and
derive enjoyment from it.

PARTICIPANT TYPE
– • People do not gain enjoyment merely by
watching; they do so by joining the activity.

1. OUTDOOR RECREATION

– They are organized activities done during


one’s free time for his/her own personal
reasons where an interaction between
man and an element of nature is present.
2. INDOOR RECREATION

– There are many different types of indoor


recreational activities. These include sports,
games, and exercise. Some of the most
popular types of activities are played at home
or in a similar location.
3. SOCIAL RECREATION

– Recreational activities are generally done to


relieve stress or improve one’s quality of life.
These activities can be done by people of all ages
and from diverse backgrounds, and most of these
activities involve some form of social interaction.
4. SPORTING RECREATION

– A sport is an activity involving the body moving


through water in coordination with the movements
of limbs and muscles. Swimming is one of the best
example of this.

depression or anxiety and to manage
stress. It is also for us to have fun.

RABBIT, ARCHER, WALL

The class will be grouped into 2 groups. This game is like


“ROCK PAPER SCISSORS”. The archer defeats the rabbit
and the rabbit defeats the wall and the wall defeats the
archer. The group that first score 5 points will win the
activity.
