especially in community services
WHAT IS VOLUNTEER ACT?

• Volunteer Act No. 9418 is an act


institutionalizing a strategy for
rural development, strengthening
volunteerism, and other
purposes.
Salient features of RA 9481 otherwise known
as Volunteer Act 9418
• Establishment of National Volunteer
Infrastructure and Forum for sharing information
and resources,
• Integration of volunteerism in basic and higher
education curriculum,
• Establishing of volunteer programs in national
government agencies and the local government
units,
• Recognition and incentives to volunteers, and
• Visa privileges for foreign volunteers.
IMPORTANCE OF VOLUNTEERISM
IN ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

• The legislation recognizes that volunteerism or


“BAYANIHAN” can be harnessed as national
development and international cooperation strategy.
The Act commits the government to a partnership to
achieve the need for social transformation and
sustainable development through volunteerism.
