Motivation
Think about this:

1. What is the video about?

2. How did the artist convince the

buyer to buy the medicine?
Have you ever encountered or
heard about persuasive writing?
Persuasive Writing

Persuasive writing a form of writing

where the writer attempts to convince or
persuade the audience to adopt a
particular point of view or take a specific
action by presenting logical reasoning,
supporting evidence, and compelling
arguments.
Were there specific elements used
by the artist to create a
persuasive message about the
medicine in the video?
Three basic techniques

1. 2. 3.
Repetition Appeal Appeal to
to emotion authority
Repetition
1.
• Used intentionally in the right
context, repetition can be a powerful
tool to make an audience savor
words, understand a point, or believe
in a cause

• Example when you go to the mall most of

the time entrepreneur used repetitions
like ‘FREE’, ‘SALE’ or even 10% of so that
the offer will stick in people's minds, so
that they're more likely to take up the
offer later.
Appeal to Emotions
2.
• Appeal to emotion- appeal to emotion, means to
persuade an audience by purposely evoking
certain emotions to make them feel the way the
author wants them to feel.

• So one example of that would be “I've had such

a bad day, and this cake would just make me
feel so much better. You don't want me to be
sad, right?” so in the example the writer is
trying to get your emotions.
Going back to the commercial
you have watched, what is the
technique applied?
Appeal to Authority
3.
• Appeal to authority- appeal to authority is the
logical fallacy of saying a claim is true simply
because an authority figure made it. This
authority figure could be anyone: an instructor, a
politician, a well-known academic, an author, or
even an individual with experience related to the
claim’s subject.

• Example when Brad Pitt said that you should take

vitamins because they are the best and you are a
die hard fan of Brad Pitt of course you would
believe.
Today, even with more roads built into the mountains and
the availability of motorcycles for transportation, the cost
of travel remains unaffordable for many indigenous
peoples. Without a birth certificate, children are more
vulnerable to poverty and exclusion. They are unable to
access public education. Nor are they able to access
government social welfare programmes, intended to break
the cycle of poverty in the Philippines. Are there still
people with good hearts to extend their helping hands?
1.How can we make sure that Manobo
students feel included and comfortable in
the learning environment by considering
their culture?

2. What is the last qestion in the

paragraph that can make a person
think?
1. In our paragraph when we say
arduous what could be the nearest term to
unlock the meaning of it?

2. Try to imagine trekking for four hours

straight what would you feel?
How far would it be if Bae Penaso
traveled 20 km from Mansilingan
Agro Industrial High School?

If we convert 1 km That's equivalent

to 1,000, then 20 to the distance
kilometers of from MAIHS to
traveling would be Bago City. This
20,000 kilometers of illustrates the
walking. length of Bae
Penaso's journey
and the sacrifices
made.
Group Activity
The class will be divided into four, with each
group tasked to create and
present its own commercial. Each group will
demonstrate their commercial in front of the
class.
Direction: Analyze each sentence and determine the
persuasive writing techniques to which they belong.

1. A powerful tool to make an audience savor words, understand a

point, or believe in a cause.
2.To persuade an audience by purposely evoking certain emotions
to make them feel the way the author wants them to feel.
3.The logical fallacy of saying a claim is true simply because an
authority figure made it.
4. A form of writing in which the writer wants to persuade the author
to believe in his/her point of view.
5. Give one example of repetition technique in persuasive writing.
