Buffalo Soldiers M/C of Greensboro N.C.

Scholarship Recipient

Matilda Kamara
2012 Graduate of James B. Dudley H.S. My name is Matilda Kamara and I am a senior at James B. Dudley High School. I was born on July 20, 1994 in Monrovia, Liberia and raised in Greensboro, North Carolina. I came to the United States in 2001 at the age of seven years hold; since then I have been striving and working hard to continue my education in the United States. My father was involved in a terrible car accident in 2003 and diagnosed with a brain injury. This left my mother as the only source of income for a family of five. I come from a background where my parents did not receive enough college education because of a war that took place in my hometown. My parents have always encouraged me to accomplish more than what they had the chance to. Some of my accomplishments to date consists of A and A/B honor roll; Health Club; Student Government Association Treasurer; Senior Student Council; Soccer; Track and Field; SMART; Future Business Leaders of America; National Technical Honor Society, etc. My participation in these activities helped me to pursue leadership roles. The Buffalo Soldiers, Greensboro Scholarship should be for someone who needs it and is willing to work hard toward their goals. Being from a family without enough educational background and is unable to provide financial assistance towards my education, this scholarship will help me greatly. Upon my graduation from high school, I plan on attending a four year University and majoring in Exercise Physiology with the intention of preparing for a professional doctoral degree path in Physical Therapy.

* Matilda is currently enrolled at East Carolina University, Greenville, N.C.
