Bible: We concluded our trip to Kenya by looking at Mrs. Kennels pictures from her Kenya trip. We are flying to Mexico next week. Bible Verse: John 3:16-17 Due: May 17 Math: *We are reviewing math concepts for the rest of the year. *Reviewed showing amount of money with coins by solving number stories involving addition of 2-digit numbers. *Reviewed the names and some of the characteristics of polygons Reading: High Frequency Words: been, before, gone, searching Skill: Make and confirm predictions Phonics: open and closed syllables Spelling: Next week is our last week for spelling words. Science: Students set up cardboard ramps down which they rolled down plastic disks. They put disks on shafts to make wheel-and-axle systems. They tried all kind of configurations of wheel size, axle length, and axle position to get their rolling systems to perform variety of tricks.

Notes *Please send in snacks for out snack stash. *Thank you so much for blessing me in so many ways during Teacher Appreciation Week. I was overwhelmed by all of the special treats, gifts and cards. *The last Scholastic Book Order was sent home this week. When you go online you can also order from other catalogs. *Please have your child wear his/her First Grade Rocks t-shirt for Field Day.
