    The first grade class learned about living in Kenya from a visitor, Mrs. Shenk Zeager. They looked at artifacts from Kenya and tried beef samosas. For Earth Day, the class focused each day on a different environmental concept like composting, reducing, and recycling. Students are going on a field trip to Oregon Dairy and Forry's farm where they will eat lunch and tour the farm.

    Bible: We traveled to Kenya this week. Mrs. Shenk Zeager came to share about living in Kenya with the entire first grade. We had a great time looking at all of her things and even tried beef samosas. Bible Verse: John 3:16-17 Due: May 17 Math: *Created a line plot of our first grade heights at the end of first grade. *Reviewed telling time on an analog clock and writing times in digital notation. Reading: High Frequency Words: build, goes, laugh, only Skill: Classify and categorize Phonics: prefixes re and un Spelling: No Spelling words next week! Science: We celebrated Earth Day by focusing on a different concept each day: composting, reducing, recycling, reusing, and swapping.     Notes Please sign and return the field trip permission slip that was sent home today. We are going to be eating lunch at Oregon Dairy and then visit the Forrys farm on site.
