Child: Zahra Date: August 2013 Written by: Teacher Natasha

Kia ora/As-salamu alaykum Zahra and whnau, Wow Zahra you were very busy this afternoon in the under two classroom! When I came down to the under two classroom you were busy at work at the small table, rubbing pieces of chalk with wooden sticks, creating flecks on to the blackboard. Teacher Bushra explained to me what you were doing, and you were very eager to show me your creation your eyes gleaming with excitement as you smiled with pride!

Review of Learning Today Zahra you showed me how capable you are a creating, imagining and innovating. During which you also demonstrated the learning dispositions of courage, curiosity, trust and playfulness. You also responded with awe and wonderment, demonstrating your confidence as you expressed your feelings of excitement as well as thoughts on what might happen if you tried a different technique. This activity involved a lot of strength with your fine motor skills and eye-hand co-ordination, therefore demonstrating your perseverance.

Where to next? Zahra, I was very impressed at your creativity this afternoon, and want to build on your confidence by initiating an AKO environment in which you are the learner and teacher. I plan to achieve this by having you explain and show me how you did this,

and then support you to demonstrate this to your peers next week during a group time. I will ensure other materials are freely available to support your active exploration.
