Define: (i) Mutually exclusive event. (ii) Axiomatic definition of probability. (iii) Conditional probability. A urn contains 10 white and 3 black balls, while another urn contains 3 white and 5 black balls. Two balls are drawn from the first urn and put into the second urn and then a ball is drawn from the latter. What is the probability that it is a white ball? Define random variable and discrete probability distribution. Give an example of each. The random variable X has a probability function of the following form:

Show that sample mean is an unbiased estimator of population mean A random sample of size 16 values from a normal population showed a mean of 41.5 inches. Find the sum of the squares of deviations from mean is 135 sq. inches. Find the maximum error with 95% confidence. A manufacturer claims that only 4% of his products are defective. A random sample of 500 were taken among which 100 were defective. Test the hypothesis at 0.05 level. A sample of 400 items is taken from a population whose standard deviation is 10. The mean of the sample is 40. Test whether the sample has come a population with mean 38 also calculates 95% confidence interval for the population.
