Description of artifact and how the artifact meets the standard:
As an educator it is important to demonstrate the ability to enhance academic performance and
support for implementation of the school districts student achievement goals by creating a learning
community that encourages positive social interaction, active engagement, and self-regulation for
every student.
This is achieved in our classroom by giving BEST tickets to students who are showing evidence of
good behavior and making good choices at school. Students earn BEST tickets on a daily basis to
show that the teacher is pleased with their choices (sharing, raising hand, cleaning up, being a good
friend, etc.).
Reflection on artifact (what went right, what went wrong, how to make better):
The use of BEST tickets has been very successful in my preschool classroom. The students are
very excited and interested in earning them each day while at school. They are encouraged to earn
BEST tickets because then their name is entered into a drawing to be BEST student of the week! It
is great motivation for the students to make good choices while at school. One rule that I have
made in my classroom is that students cant ask for BEST tickets. I had a lot of students asking me
if they could get a BEST ticket, and I told them that they only get them if they dont ask.
