HONORABLE CITIZEN
WHY IS THIS AN IMPORTANT TRAIT?
An Honorable Citizen is one who abides by their ethics and is deemed respectable by others. Honorable signifies
that respect and value are apparent, while a citizen is a resident of the community. People who are honorable
citizens contain these traits which allow them to form bonds with others much easier. Being an honorable citizen is
beneficial because when pursuing a career, one who is able to make connections with others is more likely to be
successful.

HOW DO YOU DEMONSTRATE THIS TRAIT IN YOUR DAILY LIFE?

In my daily life at school, home, and outside, I hold myself to my own personal criteria which I meet. This criteria of
myself allows me to be an honorable citizen, and have respect for myself along with the respect of the people
around me. In terms of honor and respect, I believe keeping ones word and interacting positively with people is
honorable because trust is made and openness is present. Also, standing up against negative remarks or criticism
makes one an honorable citizen. I try to not have assumptions of people based on physical traits, because judging a
book by its cover can end up completely mistaken.

HOW DO THE SAMPLE(S) YOUVE PROVIDED SHOW THAT YOU ACTIVELY

DEMONSTRATE THIS TRAIT?
I received the Scholar Athlete Award because I was an athlete who played at the high school with a 4.2 GPA, which
met the required 3.75 minimum GPA. This award demonstrates how I am an honorable citizen because I was able
to balance out my academics also while being involved in athletics. Academics for a student is difficult enough,
especially with Advanced Placement and Honors classes, but practicing two hours a day and having three to four
hour long matches on game days is even more difficult because it leaves little time for homework, studying, and
spending time with friends and family. However, students similar to me are given this award which praises our
respectable commitment and determination in Sanger Highs community. These awards are proof that the respect
we received is respect that is earned.
