Reflections on Journal 9

Our last observation before we start our spring break took place on Monday 21st
March 2016. As soon as I arrived I discussed with my partner about postponing
our teaching lessons until after spring break then went and informed our MST
about our decision and got her approval. The day ended very quickly but we
started our day differently than usual. Instead of spending our first 30 minutes
having free play, Ms. Tammy told us that it was mother's day. Ms. Tammy
explained todays lesson by applying it, she used the Circle Time center whiteboard
and wrote sentences such as: I love my mom because... and asked the students why
do they love their mom and wrote a few examples for all the children to see. She
then sent the students to their chosen seats and asked them to pay attention, while
Ms. Lizzle placed the A4 papers in front of them and my partner and I gave her a
helping hand. Ms. Tammy turned on the smartboard and wrote: I love my mom
because... to give them a head start and the rest of the sentence was for the children
to complete on their own. Then Ms. Tammy got a paper and instructed them to
follow her direction in folding it in half and told them to draw their mother above
and write their sentences below. She used the large whiteboard to draw her mother
in details, what her hair looks like and what she wears etc... Ms. Tammy allowed

the students to take their time to work on their letter and once they're done they
should hand it in for lamination and then hand it back to the students to gift it to
their mothers. While the students were working, Ms. Tammy called us over to sit
in a corner and discuss our lesson plans after spring break and gave us a few tips
and suggestions, we appreciated her taking a few minutes to talk to us.
