***** An isosceles triangular plate of base 3m and altitude 3m is immersed vertically in an oil of specific gravity 0.8. The base of the plate coincides with the free surface of oil. Determine: (i) Total pressure on the plate (ii) Centre of pressure. Explain classification of fluid flows. State and prove Bernoullis equation. A venturimeter having a diameter of 100mm at the throat and 300mm of the enlarged end is installed in a horizontal pipe line 300mm diameter carrying an oil of specific gravity 0.8. The pressure head recorded by the u-tube manometer connected to the venturimeter is 150mm of mercury. Determine the discharge through the pipe. Assume a coefficient of discharge of 0.96 Find the ratio of the displacement thickness to the momentum thickness for the velocity distribution in the boundary layer given by = where u is the velocity at a vertical distance y from the solid surface. u is the free stream velocity and is the boundary layer thickness. Also find the energy thickness in terms of
