Dear Parent / Carer

This is my end of year letter and hasn’t the time flown by!

You cannot fail to notice that work is well underway to build the new school. The new building will be ready
for us to move into in January 2012, a little later than originally planned. By September 2010 the steel
framework will be up and we will be able to see the new building taking shape. Very exciting times!

From September 2010 there will be no vehicle access for parents via Bramall Street. Parents visiting school or
dropping students off should use the new car-park on Old Road next to Milton Street.

Year 11 students will be allowed to go offsite for lunch in September on production of their school identity
card. Other students must remain on site – permission to go home for lunch will only be given in those cases
where the student lives close enough to school. From September 2011 all students including Year 11 will be
expected to remain on site for lunch.

The summer holidays are traditionally the time for buying school uniform ready for September. Details on
uniform are available from the school-website but if in any doubt please contact school. A few reminders;
black shoes – not boots, trainers or sports type shoes; no jewellery or piercings – only a wrist watch; hair
should be no shorter than a No 2 and should not have patterns shaved into it. No make- up allowed in Year 7 –
9 and only a minimal amount in Year 10 and 11.

Congratulations to the following students and Staff;

 Reece Hough, Year 11 and Callum Marks Year 10 for receiving Tameside Pupil Achievement Awards.
 Rebecca Henery, Year 8 on winning the Tameside St George’s Day Persuasive Writing prize for KS3 (11-
