CVB Internship Opportunity

Position Description
Grassroots Marketing & Operations Intern (10-15 hrs/wk, June October)
Responsibilities include the following:
Work closely with the Director of Special Events and VP/Director of Communications on the promotion of granGABLE by
developing and executing an overall marketing strategy
Lead and attend all grassroots marketing efforts at other area events; coordinate volunteers as necessary (parades, info
booths, etc.)
Manage and track distribution of marketing materials including posters, schedule cards, fliers, etc.
Assist in arranging in-kind donations and ride support
Think creatively to gain visibility among riders in Iowa and beyond
Assist in keeping an updated list of all operational needs including signage, tents, tables, chairs, generators, etc.
Assist the granGABLE committee in the planning and execution of the event
Other related duties as assigned

Expectations
Positive attitude/high energy, reliable, honest and trustworthy. Must work as a team player.
Feel comfortable sharing any/all ideas and concerns with the Director of Special Events and other staff members as
appropriate; have a free creative spirit.
Practice kindness and respect with all CVB staff members, board members, city officials, vendors, sponsors, and public.
Proficient in the use of the Internet and Microsoft Office Suite.
Detail-oriented and thorough. Before anything goes out of the office, items will be reviewed by Director of Special Events
and/or the Vice President/Director of Communications for proofing.
Comply with organizational policies:
o Attendance: notify Director of Special Events, in advance, of planned/anticipated absences.
o Dress Code: A professional appearance is expected (be well-groomed and appropriately dressed for the office and
on-site at events).
o Smoking & Alcohol: smoking and the consumption of alcohol are not permitted on the premises, in company
vehicles, or during work hours or at events.
o Hold a valid drivers license

Supervision & Chain of Command


Supervision Received: perform work under the direction of the Director of Special Events
For work related issues, concerns should be taken to the Director of Special Events and/or Vice President of Operations

Work Schedule & Compensation


15 hours/week (June October)
Internship is unpaid (school credit possible if worked out ahead of time)

Physical & Environmental Requirements


Sitting or standing for long periods of time. Occasionally must lift, carry or push objects up to 50 lbs.
Environmental requirements include working indoors and outdoors with varying weather.
