Description

With general direction from the QA lead and the Senior SET, the Software Engineer in Test is
responsible for delivery of Quality Assurance & Automation (using Agile / BDD techniques) of Fidelity
software applications in order to support the installation of high quality software products into the
Fidelity production environment. The Workplace Investing QA team is seeking candidates to fill a new
position in the H & W QA team.

This role will be part of an agile team located both locally and globally. Testing is focused on ensuring
that projects and products meet system quality standards by planning, designing, automating and
executing the appropriate test cases. This includes developing and executing automation strategies,
mining and manipulating test data, scripting and executing test cases, front-line triage of issues found
during execution, and retesting of defects through resolution.

SETs are typically assigned to multiple projects, ranging from simple to moderate complexity, or to a
single project of high complexity. SETs are required to provide project deliverables and tasks on time
and on budget while supporting high quality software delivery.

Primary Responsibilities

Provides automated quality assurance of deliveries from our development team in an agile
environment
Can work with a wide range of teams across various locations and time zones
Develops testing scenarios and scripts using automated tools
Conduct peer code reviews
Uses available tools and techniques to enable, evaluate and ensure highest quality of work
Utilizes both standard as well as new automation technologies, methods, tools, and practices
Analyze functional and technical system design for testability
Mine and manipulate data to create test data and test cases for multiple projects
Build business domain knowledge by being involved in some manual testing efforts
Document and report on identified testing issues in Jira or Quality Center and participate in
defect triage and test status meetings. Suggest improvements for processes, best practices,
and standards. This will include the existing automation framework.
Understand and apply BDD / TDD design concepts and assist with rolling these out across
the project portfolio.
Understand DevOps concepts and ability to design build pipeline for front-end, mid-tier and
backend applications
Possess a strong understand the software development life cycle and methodologies (Agile &
Waterfall)

Education and Experience

B.S. Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or similar technical


field.
3+ years in Test Development and/or Test Automation roles. Ability to perform technical and
functional analysis.
Ability to quickly learn and apply new technical skills. Hands on experience with source code
management system especially with Git
Excellent oral and written communication skills, including technical writing, presentations, and
the ability to clearly receive and convey information to a broad array of technical and non-
technical audience
Experience in retirement plan administration or financial services a plus

Skills and Knowledge

Experience of Agile Methodology is mandatory and previous experience in Waterfall strongly


desired
Experience of BDD/TDD desired
Experience with Selenium Webdriver, Cucumber, Fitnesse, Git, Maven required
Experience of SQL or PL/SQL strongly desired and at least one coding/scripting language
should be known
Experience with web services test tools desired (e.g. SoapUI, SOA Test)
Experience with Jira is essential and HP QC / ALM or Bugzilla is desired
Experience with Tomcat applications is desired.
Unix scripting knowledge desirable
Demonstrated ability to work multiple projects simultaneously and to prioritize and balance
multiple tasks
Interpersonal skills, ability to maintain good working relationships with partners

Ability to work collaboratively across multiple locations and functions
