Capacity Training on Improving Teachers’ Instructional Competencies and Managing Gender Sensitive
Classroom Environment

Rationale

On INSET

Teachers, being the front liners, must be equipped with the necessary tool to manage and execute a meaningful learning
process of our students. Continues professional development keep teachers up-to-date on new research and on how children learn,
emerging technology tools for the classroom, and new curriculum resources.

INSET has been considered crucial to the maintenance and sustaining the capacity of the teachers to continue to provide
quality teaching and learning in the classroom. It helps teachers in improving their teaching methods, classroom management,
professional growth and development and knowledge and skills enhancement that leads to the uplift of student-centered learning.
As they always say, quality teachers produce quality learners.

The purpose of the training is to initiate a process of improvement in school and its staff, particularly in adapting and
managing change, conducts workshop in instructional materials development and Daily Lesson Log preparation.

On GAD cum Team Building Activity

One of the programs that the Gender and Development (GAD) is so passionate about is the right of everyone to equal
opportunities to achieve a full and satisfying life. Gender alludes not simply to women or men but the relationship between them and
the way it is socially constructed. Since gender biases exist and these biases prevent people from attaining their full potentials,

development is impeded.

To ensure that explicit, implicit, actual and potential gender biases are removed, the school’s GAD has embarked on team
building as one of its priority program for the teacher development.

With the objective to develop gender awareness and sensitivity among San Roque National High School teachers and staff
and to assist in fostering gender-fair work environment, a Training on Gender and Development (GAD) and Team Building
Activities is proposed.

SRNHS-GAD’s objectives for the training aims to (a) increase sensitivity to a broad range of gender issues at personal,
interpersonal, institutional and community levels; (b) develop an understanding of basic concepts and approaches for analyzing
roles, relationships, and situations from gender perspective; (c) improve skills in analyzing and managing gender-related roles,
relationships and situations; and lastly, (d) build strong camaraderie and cooperation among co-employees in the execution of
roles and functions in the working place.

The role of team work in institutions has been identified as being critical. Good organizational performance can be attributed
to the quality and nature of the team and interaction amongst team members. Therefore, the concerted efforts of GAD to develop
high performing team of teachers gear toward organization’s success in all its educational fronts.
