EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
BUSINESS NAME
Island of Montunui is created and founded by the group of 8 students from the ABM strand of
Ateneo de Zamboanga University Senior High School. The students have a purpose why they
created this kind of product selling. They sell some products like: nachos, brownies, revel bars and
refreshments. Its purpose is to improve how they socialized with the people who buy their products.
It also improves them to practice on their sales taking to the people, entrepreneurship, marketing
skills and how to manage a business in the near future if they were given the opportunity to handle it.
Before the entrepreneurship fair happened, the founder/s planned about this business and shared
their different skills and wants to do this kind of business. They shared their different talents of
cooking and baking the said products they sell.

For the products which will be served for the upcoming Entrepreneurship Fair 2019, the group
will be presenting products that are conceptualized with pure originality and uniqueness to satisfy the
wants of the target market. The first on their products’ list is the oatmeal cookies served in a pack of
four pieces, made of flour, butter, eggs, sugar and oats. Next, the nachos, chips served in a semi-
cylindrical paper plates topped with a cheesy dip made from cheezee squeeze, evaporated milk,
flour, and butter. They will also be serving brownies which will be served in box with four slices of
brownies made from, commercial brownie mix, oil, water, and eggs. The last one on the list for their
delicacies is the revel bar, which is a chewy bar type cookies loaded with oats, chocolate and topped
with boiled condensed milk and cocoa. For the drinks, they will be serving two varieties of sodas,
Sweetened drink made from grape and strawberry-flavored juice and sprite as the soda. Their
purpose in building this business does not only focuses on the scope of their missions and visions
but also are dedicated to turning the entrepreneur’s imaginative ideas into leading products that will
help in developing their business to grow profitably. They are also aiming to provide exceptional
taste and new innovations in the food industry at a tolerable price point that will be very accessible to
everyone. Aside from developing the business and producing new innovations, their purpose is to
set as examples that teamwork, connection within them, sharing ideas and even listening to others’
and having fun made this business very possible.

Island of Montunui is in a Corporation form of business organization wherein the business is


operated by 8 members and each are given tasks that are based by their level of responsibility.
Starting with the most important and meticulous task which is the Cashier, this role is given to Ms.
Catherine Miciano. The next task would be the Accountant/ Bookkeeper that is assigned to Mr. Mark
Calisang, Ms. Bernadine Lim as the Marketing Manager, Ms. Francine Alviar as the Supervisor, Ms.
Aiza Madlias and Ms. Abigail Chiong as the operations staff, Mr. Justine Santos as the Sales
Representative and Mr. Arrayyan Abdurajad as the Quality Control, Safety, Environmental Manager.
The business type would be Manufacturing. Their group has decided to bake the products they plan
to sell for it to be surely made to reach the level of satisfaction of their customers. The location of
their business would be in the Multi-Purpose Covered Courts 1 of Ateneo de Zamboanga school
premises.

A Hawaiian-themed business, Island of Montunui, which the name was derived from a famous
place in a Disney movie entitled, Moana. Island of Montunui is a small type of business that will
showcase its uniqueness just like the business name. The name was agreed by all of the members,
since Moana is the first thing that came up into their minds once the theme was announced.
Everyone liked and watched Moana, that is why we came up with the business name same as the
Island that was mentioned in the movie. The business name aims to be inviting that will gather
attention from the customers that will buy the products from the business.

BUSINESS LOGO AND TAGLINE

To give out a Hawaiian vibe for their customers, the logo of the business, Island of Montunui is
eye catching and at the same time pleasant to the eyes. Pastel colors are the main color palette that
was used, since pastel colors exemplify tranquility and an inviting aura. We applied the color pastel
pink for the text of our business name to emphasize the wording and complement with the
background. We also added flowers and coconut trees, which represents the Hawaiian image that
everyone knows. As for the background it is a picture of the beach, the main focus of the logo in
which everyone would like. Mahalo i ka mokupuni`o Montunui! This is the tagline of the business
which means This is the Island of Montunui! This tagline invites their customers to buy their products
and we will give out the best service that they can give to each and every customer.

LOCATION

PRODUCT/SERVICES SOLD
The products are conceptualized with pure originality and uniqueness to satisfy the wants of the
target market. The first on the products’ list is the oatmeal cookies served in a pack of four pieces,
made of flour, butter, eggs, sugar and oats. The oatmeal cookies retails at the price of 20 php. Next,
we have the nachos at 25 php, chips served in a semi-cylindrical paper plates topped with a cheesy
dip made from cheezee squeeze, evaporated milk, flour, and butter. They will also be serving
brownies which is 30 php, will be served in box with four slices of brownies made from, commercial
brownie mix, oil, water, and eggs. The last one on the list for their delicacies is the revel bar which
15 php, which is a chewy bar type cookies loaded with oats, chocolate and topped with boiled

offered to them. We also bring out our full potential and effort to give our customers a level of
satisfaction they prefer. Together, we aim to help satisfy our customers through:

We envision our booth to successfully bring happiness to our customer and to give service
without hesitation to attain the optimal function of building the business.

NATURE OF THE BUSINESS

Island of Montunui is the business name that consists of eight members who run and manage in
the said business. It is a corporation type of business based on the numbers of owners. Corporation
is an artificial being created by operation of law, having the right of succession and the powers,
attributes and properties expressly authorized by law of incident to its existence. (Sec.1 Corporation
Code of the Philippines) There are advantages and disadvantages in corporation. One of the
advantages of corporation is that, it enjoys a continuous existence because of its power of
succession and corporation could last until 50 years. And the disadvantages of corporation is, it is
not easy to organize because of its complicated legal requirements and there more taxes to pay to
the government.

TYPE OF BUSINESS ORGANIZATION

Island of Montunui is a manufacturing type of business based on function. Manufacturing is a


type of business who manufactures products by converting raw materials or ingredients into finished
products. As the owner of the business, the manufacturer buys the raw materials or ingredients.
Then, it makes the raw materials or ingredients to finished products by applying direct labor and
factory overhead. The business has a lot of variety of products to sell. They have nachos, oatmeal
cookies, brownies, revel bar and grape and strawberry soda. In order to produce these products,
they need raw ingredients, direct labor and factory overhead. For example the strawberry soda, the
raw ingredients needs are soft drink and strawberry juice or powder. For the direct labor, the
assigned member who will work for strawberry soda will converted the raw ingredients into finished
product. And for the factory overhead, the resources needed or cost that need to be paid for in
making strawberry soda other than raw ingredients and direct labor are paper cup, ice and straw.

COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGE

The products that they offer to their fellow customers are their driving forces in making their
business a successful one. The foods that they serve for their target market are very delectable and
exquisite in taste, and its food contents are essentially balanced to one's health. Our cold beverages,
Strawberry and Grape Sodas, helps their customers keep calm and in cool state under the heat
waves of the sun. And also helps them to relieve their stress and pressure whilst drinking them in to
make them feel more lively and free. Because here in the Island of Montunui, we can make
everyone who buys our products feel contented and relaxed while they enjoy the taste of their
delicious foods and drinks.

INDUSTRY ANALYSIS
The industry where the business is classified is Food and Beverage Industry. Since this is also
the planned industry that the business owners agreed on. Also product selling is the contextualized
format that the ABM strand is assigned to during the Entrepreneurship Fair 2019.

TARGET MARKET
The Island of Montunui's target market are customers who are senior high school and college
students, faculty and staff and visitors of Ateneo de Zamboanga University main campus since the
location of the business is in the Multi-Purpose Covered Courts 1. The market segments of the
business are groups of customers who share common characteristics. These customers could be a
friendship, barkada, and in a relationship. The market segmentation can be useful in creating
customers profile. Customers may be profiled on much type of data. These are the following:
Demographics • Age -> 16- 50 years old • Marital Status -> Married and Single • Gender -> Male and
Female • Education -> Senior High School and College Psychographics Customers like to taste
delicious food that are exact to their taste buds. Opinions from customers about food and drinks,
they like if it is plenty and less cost Used-Based Data, Our customers have different activities to do.
The potential of the customer use in a particular product are much often because they like to buy
drinks and food that make them full right away. Geographic Data, Our business location is far from
the customer because we are in a last boundary of the location. We have many competitors that
their location is much nearest to our business. Yet, we invite people to come to our business to know
what we are selling.

he will be responsible for handling monitoring product and
service quality.

SUPERVISOR - This individual is the second-in-command
in the shop and will oversee production in the absence of
the owners or general manager. This position will have an
overall understanding of all aspects of the business and
also will handle working with the monitoring of products and
rendering services

3. CALISANG
ACCOUNTANT/BOOKKEEPER - The individual filling this
role has the responsibility of recording the products that are
being sold to keep in check for the money being earned.

4. CHIONG
OPERATIONS STAFF - This individuals job is to prepare
the products and render service to the customer. (assigned
in managing brownies, revel bar, and oatmeal cookies)

5. LIM
MARKETING MANAGER - A marketing manager may be
on staff to handle all aspects related to promoting and
selling the product.
