(The process of systematically planning, developing, evaluating and managing the instructional
process by using principles of teaching and learning - D.O. 42, s. 2016)

Detailed Lesson Plan (DLP) Format

Learning Competency/ies: Illustrates theorems on triangle inequalities (Exterior Angle Code:
Inequality Theorem, Triangle Inequality Theorem, Hinge
(Taken from the Curriculum Guide)
Theorem). M8GE-IVa-1

If two sides of one triangle are congruent to two sides of another triangle, but the included angle of the first triangle
Key Concepts / Understandings to
be Developed is greater than the included angle of the second, then the third side of the first triangle is longer than the third side of
the second.

3. Learning Resources Math 8 LM and Math 8 TG
4. Procedures
4.1 Introductory Activity Show to the class a powerpoint of the activity that they will going to do. Let the students analyze what they have read
5 minutes on the presentation.
4.2 Activity Analie has a triangular picture frame that her grandpa gave her on her 15th birthday. Like her, his grandpa loves
triangular shapes. Since it is going to be his grandpa's 70th birthday soon, her birthday gift idea is to have two triangular
frames made so she can place in them photos of his grandpa as health exercise instructor. As jer woodworker friend,
10 minutes she asks you to do the triangular frames for her. To determine the shapes of the picture frames, how should the photos
be cropped?

4.3 Analysis Answer the following questions based from the activity. 1.
How do you plan to crop the photographs? Indicate the vertices of the triangular part of the photos. Mark the sides of
the new triangular photos.
15 minutes 2. What made you decide to have that shape and not something else? What is your basis for determining the largest
corner? What is your basis for determining the longest side?

4.4 Abstraction How will you describe a Hinge Theorem?
