Breathing system
Kvėpavimo sistema – tai organų sistema, palaikanti reikiamą dujų apykaitą organizme,
kuri yra gyvybiškai svarbi žmogui.
The respiratory system is an organ system that maintains the necessary gas metabolism
in the body, which is vital for a person.
Respiratory organs, the totality of organs involved in external respiration - the gas
exchange between a living organism and the environment.
The respiratory organs of humans and terrestrial vertebrates consist of the airways
and lungs with the pleura. In the airways (nose, throat, trachea, bronchi) the air is
cleansed, warmed and saturated with water vapor. They also have a voice device
that, together with the auxiliary organs (tongue, teeth, lips, palate), emits
articulated (human) and non-articulated (animal) sounds. Due to the cartilage
skeleton in them, the airways are constantly open and do not collapse under
physiological conditions. In the alveoli of the lungs, gas (oxygen and carbon
dioxide) is exchanged between atmospheric air and blood, and some substances -
acetone, alcohol, nitric oxide and others - are released from the body through the
lungs. The respiratory organs also include the structures surrounding the lungs -
the chest, respiratory muscles, their nerves, pulmonary blood vessels, lymph
vessels.
