The traditional theory or bottom-up process
Bottom-up processing happen when tries to understand language by looking
at individual meanings or grammatical characteristics of the most basic unit of a text. Example of the bottom-up process asking learners to read aloud may encourage bottom-up process because they focus on words form, not the meaning. Compare to the other theory of reading, bottom-up are just focus in reading the text, unlike the cognitive view or top-down and the metacognitive view strategies the learners comprehend what they read and they also have a prediction if what may possible to happened. The bottom-up approach treats developing reading skills as a sequential process. Dictation, cloze listening and the use of multiple questions after a text are some of examples of the bottom-up process. In the bottom-up process student must first learn the basic of phonics and how to decode words before more complex skills such as reading comprehension can be mastered. I believed if all of our learners are able to write and read, especially if you are a kindergarten or grade one teacher, you will be a good teacher. The bottom-up process is just focus in reading the text, as a future teacher it is our duty to help them to comprehend what they read. Before to comprehend the text they must first read it and we will be the one who will explain to them if what is the means of every words they read, because it is our duty and responsibility to teach them what they need to learn. Every learner has different ways on how they learn a certain thing, especially in terms of reading. And because of that as a teacher we should focus on the traditional theory or the bottom-up process then after the know how to read like basic sight words, we can now try different strategies in reading because, I believe that there is no best method and strategies in teaching. As a teacher all we need to do is to try different method and strategies of teaching until we find the suit strategies for every learner because every learner has different ways on how they learn a certain thing like reading or listening to someone. The sounds of English Alphabet using audio visual presentation is my instructional materials that helps the learners to learn the sound of twenty-six alphabet letters by the guidance of the teachers. By learning the letter sound relationship, decoding formula provided that can be applied whenever a student encounters an unfamiliar word as a teacher we must teach our learners first the basic unit before we proceed to the next stage. Great pronunciation begins with mastering the alphabet. Letter sound change, but letter names do not.
