2. Guess the meaning of unfamiliar words in text provided about “Things that Need to Buy”

PRE-LESSON: (5 minutes)
1. Teacher shows a shopping list
2. Pupils are asked to determine in which sections of the supermarket they can find the products that have been listed
3. Pupils write their answers in the table provided on the whiteboard (The table has been labelled with “Beverages and
Refreshments”, “Dairy Products”, “Pasta and Grains” and “ Nuts and Snacks”

LESSON DELIVERY: (20 minutes)


4. Pupils read some text on whiteboard (it is about the description of things that a mother of a son asks her son to buy)
5. Pupils read the text
6. Pupils need to jot down the specific details about the products that the mother asked to buy
6. Pupils have been divided into 5 groups
7. Teacher asks pupils to guess what are the things that the mother asks her son to buy based on the description given in the
text and they also need to state in which section they can find the things
8. Teacher also asks pupils to find unfamiliar words in the text and try to guess the meaning of the words

10. Teacher checks whether they understand what they have to do. (Traffic Light Cards) (Formative assessment)
