Task 4: DISCUSSION

Task 5: THINKING POINT
Different ways of collecting primary sources of data
such as observation, interviews, and questionnaires
will be presented. Each type will be discussed in detail.

2. What do interviewers need to perform when
conducting interviews?

and the position to the interviewee, learn
about the interviewee’s career goals, ask
questions related to the position, gather
more information with follow up questions.
3. What are some of the advantages and
disadvantages of using interviews in
collecting data?
-Advantages:
1.it provides flexibility to the interviews
2.has a better response than mailed
questions
3. the interviewer can judge the non-verbal
behaviour of the respondent.
Disadvantages
1.can be very costly as well as very time-
consuming, an interview can cause biases,
provide less anonymity, there is lack of
accessibility to respondents
4. What are some considerations in developing
a questionnaire?
-reliable, interesting, valid, succinct
Task 6: EXPLAIN ME FURTHER
Different ways of collecting secondary sources of data
will be discussed. Examples of secondary sources of
data such as government publications, earlier
research, personal records, mass media, etc. will be Published Thesis
presented. The principle of triangulation will also be
introduced.
Task 7: EVALUATE ME ACTIVITY

1. The students (in groups) will be asked to identify
what data collection methods are appropriate for their
group’s study.
2. They will construct the “Data Gathering Instrument”
“Validation of Data” and “Collection of Data” sections
of their manuscript’s Chapter 3.
3. Selected groups will be asked to present their
output.
4. The students will be evaluated through their
oral presentations.
Task 9: Assignment
1. Conduct a survey in your barangay. Draft of the Data Gathering
2. Ask 5 persons on how they gather information. Instrument

information.
4. Record their answer in 1 whole sheet of paper.

Note: The assignment will be the basis in the


next topic which is Sampling.
