The Existence of Factories that Interfere With Human Settlements

Dear Editor:

There are many kinds of pollution that surrounds our environment. They are air pollution,
sound pollution, and water pollution. However, the most disturbing thing of Dumai, Especially
residents around the factory that is air pollution. I'm sure the air pollution solution that has
dominated the Dumai city that we love will be resolved.

The area around the harbor of Dumai very many factories which are still active to work till
now. The location of the distribution of these factories is right in pelintung and datuk laksama.
Where, the location of the factory is right surrounded by residential area. This certainly makes
the activities of local residents become obstructed.

Some things that make the settlement of the population to be disturbed are: dirty smoke
burning waste discharged by the factory, the sound of the factory engine is too strong and the
number of large trucks passing in residential areas.

In my opinion, some of these may be above. However, the lack of government attention to the
situation is experienced by the local population. Ranging from the smoke which the factories
release. It can actually be solved by making a filter on the waste-disposal chimney. So that the
smoke released by the chimney is not smelly, toxic and black. Then, the amount of noise
released by the machine factories. I think this can also be solved by installing a silencer in the
engine room. So, the sound of factory machinery is not heard up to the subsequent settlers,
regarding large trucks passing in residential areas. In my opinion, this is quite natural in the
factory area. However, it would be better if the special cross paths were established for the
trucks. So, the level of traffic security around the factory close to the settlement becomes even
greater

I realize that doing everything I say is not easy. However, the most important and underlined
thing to do is the change that is about the air pollution that is generated by the burning of factory
waste. Pollution will be very dangerous if it is inhaled by the local people.

Therefore, I hope the Dumai city government has the best solution to solve the problem.
Because, by solving the problems Dumai city can become a healthy city which is free from air
pollution.
