1. Activity 1:
Have discussions about cooking by asking questions. E.g. Can you cook? Do you like
cooking? What would you like to cook? etc
Encourage pupils to answer.
2. Activity 2:
Hold up the book and discuss the title of the story. (SB pg 62-63)
Pupils look at the pictures and guess what the story is going to be about.
Invite pupils to name any foods/drinks they recognise in the pictures.
II. LESSON
DEVELOPMENT Play the CD and ask pupils to point to each speech bubble and follow along. (track 98)
Talk about what happens in each frame and ask pupils about Fay’s cooking skills at each
stage.
Ask questions to check comprehension. (refer to TB pg 98 after reading activity)
3. Activity 3:
Ask pupils to do a role play of a cooking competition. (groups or as a whole class)
Pupils decide who will be the teacher, and others decide what they will cook for the
competition.
Give feedback on performance and focus on common problems you found in the activity.
