LEARNING OBJECTIVE(S):
By the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to;
✓ Listen and predict an ending of a folk tale.
SUCCESS CRITERIA: a) List at least 1-2 names of Malaysian folk tales
b) Draw and act out an ending for the folk tale listened.
ACTIVITY / PROCEDURE(S):

Pre-lesson : 1. Teacher informs about the lesson input to pupils.


(10 mins) 2. Teacher projects a clip of folk tale to pupils and discusses the meaning of folk tales with them.
While-lesson : 3. Teacher reads out a folk tale to pupils and get them to listen to her attentively.
(25 mins) 4. Pupils listen to the story by looking at the pictures in TB pg 38 and discusses it with teacher.
Post-lesson : 5. Teacher gets pupils to predict the ending of the tale in groups.
(25 mins). 6. Pupils discuss the task in groups and act it out.
7. Teacher facilitates and gives feedback.
8. Pupils draw the predicted scene in the work book..

Pre-lesson
1. Brainstorm with pupils possible ways of adapting the song in SB p.48 .
2. Possibilities include: a different character name, different food, different prepositions.
3. Do an example together with the whole class for the first 2 lines of verse 2 of the song. Help
pupils with new vocabulary as appropriate.
Lesson delivery
1. Divide pupils into pairs or small groups and ask them to create a new song.
2. Provide pupils with a language frame to help them structure the song. Put the first verse
(which is also verse 3 and 5) on the board or a handout, with a blank in place of Tommy’s,
LEARNING OUTLINES and for verses 2 and 4, write:

3. Pupils create their song. They can write the song down, but must also be able to sing it
4. Pupils sing their song to other groups.
Post lesson
5. Ask 1 or 2 groups of pupils to take turns to sing their song to the rest of the class.
6. Write prompts for verses 2 and 4 on the board to help the class join in with the song.
