Air bellows chafing against crossmember

Background
There have been problems with the air bellows
on trucks with air suspended rear axles. If the
tolerances are inadequate, the air bellows can
chafe against the rear crossmember for the air
tank. This can cause the air bellows to burst.

Action
Grinding of the rear crossmember must be
carried out, to provide space for the air bellows.

Note: After grinding, an anti-corrosive

treatment must be applied to the ground
area.

From December 1999, the crossmembers

concerned will be replaced as follows:

the rearmost crossmember. 80

2. On trucks that have been in operation for

more than one year, if the distance is less A
than 5 mm, grinding should be carried out 13 +
