Engine mounting bolt breaking on L113

Background
There have been cases of the vertical bolt
through the rubber mounting on the front
(viewed in the direction of the bus) engine
bracket breaking on the L113.
The engine’s rubber mounting has a bump stop
which prevents excessive engine movement.
The bolt is placed under great load when the
bump stop reaches the end of its travel.

Action
Lowering the bump stop by 4 mm allows great-
er engine movement without placing load on the
stop.
The rubber mounting is then allowed greater
freedom to absorb the movement of the engine,
reducing or eliminating the force when the
bump stop comes to the end of its travel.
Lowering the bump stop can be done by either 2
changing it for one of the new type or by plac-
ing a washer directly above it. 1
The solution with the new type of bump stop
will be introduced in production from 9607.
