Teacher’s Activity Student’s Activity
Routinary Activities:
Good morning class! Good morning Sir.
How are you doing today? We’re doing fine Sir.
I am glad you are.
Before we start, may I know who is absent
today? None Sir.
Very good!
A. Reviewing previous lesson or presenting a
new lesson (ELICIT)
Do you still remember our lesson last week? Yes sir.
Very good.

What is it all about then?

Correct. It is all about Land and Sea Breezes sir.

And when do land breeze happen?

It happens at night sir.
How about sea breeze, when do sea breeze
happen?
Very good Sea breeze happens during daytime sir.

What are the factors that can affects breezes?

Correct. Heat and air pressure sir.

Do you still remember our last experiment?

Which heats up faster? Soil or water? Yes sir.

How about cools down faster?

Very good. Soil sir.

Now let us move on to our new lesson. It is also soil sir.

B. Establishing a purpose for the lesson
(ENGAGE)
What we have discussed last time has
something to do with our topic for today. But
before that, let us first have a game. Do you
want to play a game? Yes sir.
Very good.

Let us call this game “hangman”. I am going to

show you blanks. Each blank represents a
letter. All blanks represents a word or group of
words. Each group will be given a chance to
give a letter, once the letter was included in the
hidden word, they will again give another
letter. If the letter was not included in the
hidden word, a part of “hangman” will be
revealed. Make sure to guess the right word
before the hangman completes. The group who
will guess each word will earn points.

C. Presenting examples/instances of the new

lesson (EXPLORE)
Okay class, do you know what we are going to Yes sir.
talk about today?

And what is it? Our topic is all about monsoons.

Excellent.

For us to define what monsoon is, let us have Student answer:

our first task.

“that usually brings with it” A monsoon is a seasonal shift in the prevailing
“in the prevailing wind direction” wind direction, that usually brings with it a
“A monsoon” different kind of weather.
“a different kind of weather”
“is a seasonal shift”

Correct answer:
A monsoon is a seasonal shift in the prevailing
wind direction, that usually brings with it a
different kind of weather.

Remember class that monsoons always blow

from cold to warm regions.

D. Discussing new concepts and practicing

new skills #1 (EXPLAIN)

Okay class, I am going to show you 2 different

wind patterns or directions that is happening
over a year. The first one is the wind pattern
that happens from October to March and the
other one is the wind pattern from April to
September. You will also see 2 letters on the
picture. Letter “L” stands for low pressure area.
While “H” stands for high pressure area.

Now, I want you to identify which among these

2 is the Northeast Monsoon or commonly
called as Amihan and where Southwest
monsoon is or commonly called as Habagat.
You will be able to answer these by putting the
directions on the map. Where is north, south,
east, and east? Then encircle where Philippines
is.

Student answers:

AMIHAN

HABAGAT

E. Discuss new concepts and practicing new

skills (ELABORATE)
Using that diagram provided to you, answer the Student answers:
following questions.
1. Look at the part where there is a low 1. Wind moves towards the LPA
pressure area (L). How does wind 2. Wind moves away from HPA
flows? Do the wind moves towards 3. Wind flows from HPA to LPA

flows? Do the wind moves towards
HPA or away from it?
3. In what directions does wind blows? Is
it from LPA to HPA or HPA to LPA?
4. Study the map from april to September
where Habagat happens. Why do you
think habagat brings heavy rains than
Amihan?
F: Developing Mastery (Leads to Formative
Assessment)
Now class, based on what you have learned
about the monsoons. Let us answer the
following. Student answers:

1. Why do you think farmers welcome 1. Farmers welcome monsoon because it

monsoon? will help them grow crops.
2. Why do fisher folks do not welcome 2. Fisher folks do not welcome monsoon

4. Why fish pen owners worried about monsoons brings rains and strong
monsoon? winds
5. How monsoons does affects you as well 4. Fish pen will be destroy due to heavy
as the community? rains and winds.
5. It is hard to go to school during rainy
season. Classes are mostly suspended
during heavy rains.
G. Making Generalizations and abstraction
about the lesson.
Okay class, let us see if you able to learn
something new today.

What is monsoon? Monsoon is a seasonal shift in the prevailing

different kind of weather.
It flows from cool to warm regions.
Using the diagram, how the wind flows?

that happens from October to March?
Correct.

How about the southeast monsoon that happens Habagat sir.

from April to September?
Very good

H. Evaluating Learning (EVALUATION)

about the monsoons.
4. It is also known as Northeast Monsoon
which happens mostly from October to
March.
