ACTIVITIES Pre-lesson
1. Teacher plays a video on solar sytem.
2. Pupils get introduced to the topic of the Solar System.
Lesson delivery
3. Using the picture of the Solar System, let the pupils to talk what they
knows about the solar system.
4. Introduce the names of the planets to the pupils. Teacher shows the
names on slide in random order. Ask pupils which order they think they
come in (in terms of their position from the sun or in terms of their
sizes).
5. Follow instructions for Warm up and Vocabulary on Teacher’s Book,
p.148.
6. Tell pupils they will read about the Solar System. Ask them to look at
the picture (Student’s Book, p.98 or other Solar System picture) and to
guess what Solar System means. Pupils listen to the audio track.
7. Pupils identify the superlative adjectives which they found on the text.
8. Ask pupils to read the text to find out whether their answers were
correct about the order. Note that the answer is in the first paragraph.
You could have them race to find the answer perhaps.
9. Follow instructions for Activity 1 on Teacher’s Book, p.148–9.
10. If you have pupils who have prepared something to teach the class,

they can do this at this point. Help those pupils say it in English as far
as possible, but let them talk in their first language too so that
everyone understands the facts.
Post-lesson
11. Pupils recall back all the superlative they studied today.
