In  the  last  few  sections,  we  learned  that  a  ‫’ﺣﺮﻑف‬s  only  job  is  to  beat  up  another  word  after  it.  
We  will  now  discuss  a  new  set  of  ‫’ﺣﺮﻑف‬s  called  the  ‫ ﺣﺮﻑف ﻧﺼﺐ‬ (Harf  of  Nasb).  These  ‫’ﺣﺮﻑف‬s  cause  
the  ‫ ﺍاﺳﻢ‬ they’re  attacking  to  become  ‫ﻧﺼﺐ‬.  Notice  that  this  is  similar  to  the  ‫ﺣﺮﻑف ﺟﺮ‬:  while  the  
‫ ﺣﺮﻑف ﺟﺮ‬ causes  its  victim  to  become  ‫ﺟﺮ‬,  the  ‫ ﺣﺮﻑف ﻧﺼﺐ‬ causes  its  victim  to  become  ‫ﻧﺼﺐ‬.      
 
The  ‫ ﺣﺮﻑف ﻧﺼﺐ‬ causes  the  ‫ ﺍاﺳﻢ‬ after  it  to  be  in  the  ‫ ﻧﺼﺐ‬ status.  There  are  six  ‫’ﺣﺮﻑف ﻧﺼﺐ‬s:  
 
‫ﻟَ َﻌ ﱠﻞ‬ ‫ﻟَ ِﻜ ﱠﻦ‬ َ‫ﻟَﻴﯿْﺖ‬ ‫ﻛ ﱠ‬
‫َﺄﻥن‬ ‫ﺃأَ ﱠﻥن‬ ‫ﺇإِ ﱠﻥن‬
 

1. ‫ﺇإِ ﱠﻥن‬:  for  sure  

2. ‫ﺃأَ ﱠﻥن‬:  that  
3. ‫ َﻛﺄ َ ﱠﻥن‬:  as  though  
4. َ‫ﻟَ ْﻴﯿﺖ‬:  if  only  
5. ‫ﻟَ ِﻜ ﱠﻦ‬:  however  
6. ‫ﻟَ َﻌ ﱠﻞ‬:  so  that,  hopefully,  maybe
