Session 4
I. OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standards The learners demonstrate an understanding of: waves as a carriers of energy
B. Performance Standards The Learners shall be able to conduct a forum on mitigation and disaster risk reduction
C. Learning Competencies/ Infer that waves carry energy / S7LT-IIIc-4 and differentiate transverse from longitudinal waves/ S7LT-IIIc-5, Relate the characteristics
Objectives of waves/ S7LT-IIId-6, Differentiate mechanical from electromagnetic waves/ S7LT-IIIc-5
Write the LC code for each

II. CONTENT
Relationship of wave concept to disaster risk reduction.
IV. LEARNING
RESOURCES
A. Reference None
1. Teacher’s Guide pages None
2. Learner’s Materials pages None
3. Textbook pages None
4. Additional Materials from
Learning Resource (LR) None
portal
B. Other Learning Resources None
V. PROCEDURES
A. Reviewing previous The teacher will ask the learners to draw a mind map, connecting the concepts about wave, its types and characteristics and
lesson or presenting the application.
new lesson The learners should be able to draw a mind map showing the connection from the main concept of wave, its types, characteristics, and
application to daily life and disasters like earthquake and tsunami.
(5 minutes)
B. Establishing a purpose From the mind map, the teacher will let the learners to create a model relating the wave concepts to real-life situations like earthquake
for the lesson and tsunami.
(5 minutes)
1
C. Discussing new
concepts and practicing
new skills #1
D. Discussing new
concepts and practicing
new skills #1
The teacher will let the learners create their own wave-model (following the rubric) and present how their model will show the wave
E. Discussing new
concept, its types, characteristics and application, by group.
concepts and practicing
(40 minutes)
new skills #2
F. Developing mastery
(Leads to Formative
Assessment)
G. Finding practical
applications and
concepts and skills in
daily living
H. Making generalizations Out of the model that you have created, describe the relationship of frequency, amplitude, wavelength, and wave velocity.
and abstractions about
the lesson The learners should be able to describe the relationship of the said quantities as wave speed is directly proportional to frequency and
wavelength while the frequency is inversely proportional to the wavelength of a wave.
I. Evaluating learning Create a short description of quantities used in periodic wave.

1. FREQUENCY refers to the series of periodic waves is the number of waves that pass a particular point every one second.
2. WAVELENGTH refers to the distance between any successive identical parts of the wave.
3. PERIOD it refers to the time required for one complete wave to pass a given point.
4. SPEED refers to the distance the wave travels per unit time.
