A. Content Standard: The learner understands the human person as an embodied spirit.
B. Performance Standard: The learner distinguishes his/her own limitations and the
possibilities for his/her transcendence.
C. Learning Competency: At the end of the session, learners are expected to evaluate own
limitations and the possibilities for their transcendence

At the end of the lesson, learners will be able to:

1. Explain the statements “I am my body” and “I am more than my body”.


2. Discuss the concept of transcendence
3. Share experiences in relation to transcendence
4. Write an essay about the statement “The human person is more than his
body”.

A. Establishing a purpose for the lesson:

Transcendence means that: “I am my body but at the same time I am more than
my body. The things that I do, all those physical activities and attributes which are
made real through my body, reveals the person that I am”.

F. Evaluating Learning

The teacher asks the learners to write an essay composed of 4-10 sentences on the
question “What makes a human person more than his body?
