(MOTIVATION)

C. Presenting examples/ instances of

the new lesson (PRE-ACTIVITY)

Did you learn something from the story of the elephant and the six blind men?
In real life, we are faced with such situations wherein we have to think and analyze what is in front of us in order to
understand what it is, right?

Have you had an experience wherein you are seriously thinking of your past experiences before making any major
decision or related action?

D. Discussing new concepts and

practicing new skills 1
( ACTIVITY PROPER)
 An example of this is deciding to skip classes and just hang out with friends at a computer shop. Before
skipping class, you are thinking about the last time you did it and got caught by your mother and she
grounded you for a week. You remembered how bad it felt that you were not able to stay out late, hang-
out with your friends, and your cellphone confiscated. So, being able to reflect on what happened made
you decide not to skip classes anymore! This process that you went through, is called a Philosophical
Reflection.
 In the process of doing philosophy, having a holistic point of view is very
important. A holistic point of view is looking at all aspects of a situation first before making a conclusion.
The skills involved in doing philosophy include critical, logical and analytical thinking, observation and
communication skills. Holistic perspective, or “holism” also states that
 the whole is usually greater than the sum of its parts
 when the whole is less than the sum of its parts, it’s still greater in the sense that it brings us closer to the
truth.

E. Discussing new concepts and HOLISTIC POINT OF VIEW

practicing new skills 2  Looks at all aspects of the given problem or situation
(DEEPENING)  All aspects are given importance when making conclusions
 All aspects are tied in together to form a general overview of the problem or situation

PARTIAL POINT OF VIEW

 Looks only at a limited number of aspects of the given problem or situation
 Conclusions are made bases on considering some, but not all, sides of the problem or situation

F. Developing Mastery
(Post-Activity) GIVING EXAMPLES ABOUT HOLISTIC POINTS OF VIEW

 Using different sources of information in doing your research

 Listening to both your teachers’ and parents’ advice on what course to
take in college

PARTIAL POINT OF VIEW

 Using only one source of information in doing your research
 Listening only to your friend’s advice on what course to take in college

G. Finding practical applications of SITUATIONAL ANALYSIS

concepts and skills in daily living
(APPLICATION) Directions:
Look at the picture, at first glance you would ask: “Why is there
no social distancing?” Are they being “pasaway?” Using what you have learned in
doing philosophy and the difference between holistic and partial point of view, state
your explanation or viewpoint that you can think of in this scenario.

H. Making generalizations and Ask the following questions:

abstractions about the lesson 1. Based on what you have learned, why do you have to look at different perspectives before you make an action,
(GENERALIZATION) decision or conclusion?
2. If you were to reflect, how would you describe your life and purpose

On a separate sheet of paper put check if the statement deals with holistic point of view and put x if the statement
1. Evaluating learning (ASSESSMENT) refers to partial point of view
