TENSES ( PART 2 – PAST TENSES)

I/ Past simple (QKĐ)

Ved/bất quy tắc

(1) Diễn tả một hành động đã xảy ra và chấm dứt trong quá khứ.
Ex: Last year, I went to Nha Trang city.

(2) Diễn tả một chuỗi hành động xảy ra liên tiếp nhau ở trong quá khứ.

Ex: When we saw the spaceship, we stopped the car.

II/ QUÁ KHỨ TIẾP DIỄN

be (was/were) + V/ing

(1) Diễn tả một hành động đang xảy ra trong quá khứ. (At this time/ Giờ cụ thể)

Ex: At this time yesterday, I was having a dinner.

At 8 pm yesterday, I was doing homework.

* NOTE: Hôm qua khi tôi đến (Xen vào) -QKĐ, anh ta đang ngủ ở phòng khách ( đang xảy ra) -> QKTD

Ex: When I came, he was sleeping in the living room.

What was she doing when you saw her in the yard?

III/ QUÁ KHỨ HOÀN THÀNH. => had + V(ii)

(1) Diễn tả một hành động xảy ra trước một hành động khác trong quá khứ.

Ex: Yesterday, I went out after I had done my homework.

By the time (Cho đến khi) I met you, I had completed my hw.

IV/ QUÁ KHỨ HOÀN THÀNH TIẾP DIỄN => had been doing

* nhấn mạnh vào thời gian

Ex: By the time I met you, I had been working for this company for many years.

Anh ấy đã sống ở thành phố (QKHTTD) này một thời gian dài trước khi anh ấy chuyển đến Mỹ.(QKĐ)

-> He had been living in this city before he moved to America.

10. ‘practice (d) (n) luyện tập

-> out of practice: không quen vì đã lâu không luyện tập

-> out of money: hết tiền

-> out of stock: hết hàng

-> out of order: bị hỏng

11. own (ed) sở hữu -> owner (n) người sở hữu

# owe (d) nợ.

* NOTE:

use (d) to do sth: đã từng làm gì trong quá khứ = would do sth.

# get/be used to doing sth: đã quen với việc gì.

Ex: I used to play the guitar when I was 6 years old = I would play the guitar when I was 6 years old.

I am / get used to playing the guitar.

I am used to waiting for her.
