WEEK 33 – GRADE 2 – PORTFOLIO ARTWORK (35 minutes) PERIOD 66


Objectives:
 To consolidate the sound of the letters Vv, Ww, Xx, Yy and Zz and the corresponding words

Writing Activity book –  Ask a student from one team to come to the board
p.53 & 61  Whisper one of the vocabulary words (from unit 5-8) to the student.
Vocabulary  Without speaking, the student draw a picture of the word on the board
Revision Materials  The first team to guess the word correctly wins a point for his/ her team.
- Van, vase, violet,  Phonics cards  Repeat the activity with a student from the other team.

1. Trace letter Vv and colour the pictures. – Activity book- page 53 (5 mins)
- Ox, box, taxi, six
 Elicit the letters and their sounds
- Yo-yo, yellow,
E.g. letter V says /v/
yacht, yogurt
- Zoo, zebra, zip,  Point to each picture and elicit the letter, the sound and the name of the item
zero E.g. V- /v/- violet
 Ask the students to trace the letters and colour in the pictures
 Tell the students that they can draw a heart next to the picture they like most.
 Go around the classroom to provide any necessary help, ask individual students to say out the
sound or the items then the teacher gives out some comments or compliments to the students.

2. Trace letter Ww and colour the pictures. – Activity book- page 55 (5 mins)
 Elicit the letters and their sounds
E.g. letter W says /w/
 Point to each picture and elicit he letter, the sound and the name of the item
E.g. W- /w/- window
 Ask the students to trace the letters and colour in the pictures
 Tell the students that they can draw a heart next to the picture they like most.
 Go around the classroom to provide any necessary help, ask individual students to say out the
sound or the items then give out some comments or compliments

 Ask the students to open their Activity books page 53- letter Vv
 In 30 seconds, the students try to write the name of the four items.
 Ask them raise their hands when they finish writing.
 The winner is the student who has finish writing first.
 Do the same with page 55, 57, 59, 61- letter Ww, Xx, Yy and Zz

3. Trace letter Xx and colour the pictures. – Activity book- page 57 (5 mins)
 Elicit the letters and their sounds
E.g. letter X says /ks/
 Point to each picture and elicit he letter, the sound and the name of the item
E.g. X- /ks/-
 Ask the students to trace the letters and colour in the pictures
 Tell the students that they can draw a heart next to the picture they like most.

4. Trace letter Yy and colour the pictures. – Activity book- page 59 (5 mins)
 Elicit the letters and their sounds
E.g. letter Y says /j/
 Point to each picture and elicit he letter, the sound and the name of the item
E.g. Y- /j/- yellow
 Ask the students to trace the letters and colour in the pictures
 Tell the students that they can draw a heart next to the picture they like most.

5. Trace letter Zz and colour the pictures. – Activity book- page 61 (5 mins)
 Elicit the letters and their sounds
E.g. letter Z says /z/
 Point to each picture and elicit he letter, the sound and the name of the item
E.g. Z- /z/- zoo
 Ask the students to trace the letters and colour in the pictures
 Tell the students that they can draw a heart next to the picture they like most.
 Go around the classroom to provide any necessary help, ask individual students to say out the
sound or the items then give out some comments or compliments

Tell the students that they can draw a star next to the picture they think the best of all.
