ACTIVITY 1 My Most Unforgettable Travel Experience

There is no denying that some trips are more remarkable, some moments make you
rethink your life and take your breath for a few moments. My most unforgettable travel
experience was my trip to Northern Samar. It was in July 26, 2014. We spent two days of
travelling before we arrived. It was tiring but fulfilling journey because you can see beautiful
scenery along the road. We traveled by a bus and the next day we boarded in the ship wherein
you can experience the magnificent view of the ocean. And I can also observe some flying
fish who tries to keep pace to the movement of the ship.
After 2 days of traveling, we arrived in Lapinig, Northern Samar, where we spent a few
days with our relatives and try different activities in their place. We’ve seen clean and
attractive beaches with white sands. We rent a boat and went in an island where we can
experience snorkeling and swimming. I had fun in observing different species of fish, star
fish with different sizes and color, jelly fish who float freely in the water, sea shells in the
seashore and other marine animals and plants. I am impressed by the numbers of mangroves
in the island. I can say that the island is well preserved. On the other day, we went in to a
mountain and do hiking. I saw rare orchids or plants and different kind of trees but the most
abundant tree is the coconut tree. I’ve seen a lot of trees covering the mountains and it keeps
the mountain to become green. It also makes the temperature become cooler. I found out that
the people in Northern Samar use the coconut tree in their livelihood. Aside in making a
copra (dried coconuts) they also use it in making coconut wine. And they called it “tuba”. But
the main livelihood of the residents in Northern Samar is fishing. I must say that their ocean
diversity is rich.
Our relatives prepare food and some delicacies for us. Apart from seafoods they prepare
“binagol”. It is made of a root crop called taro and it is one of their best delicacies in the
town. They also offer a coconut wine for us. Before we go back here in Pangasinan, they
invite us to attend their festival. Every house prepare food for the festival. They invite their
neighbors to celebrate and eat with them. Everyone is welcome to go in every house and they
will give you food for free. Their festival will last in 3 days. Other residence who was in
other places save some time to go back to their town to join the celebration of their festival
and to be with their families. I can remember how my family and I had fun in that trip. It was
my most unforgettable travel experience.
