III. Procedure
A. Engagement

Picture Analysis:

Guide Question:
Are you familiar with this family? Who are they?
Look at the parents, what are the distinguishing features that some siblings
have acquired from them?

B. Exploration
Let the students identify and list down in their notebooks some of the traits they inherited
from their parents, and let them share it to the class.

C. Explanation
Guide questions:
1. Why are organism different from one another? In what features do they differ?
2. What factors affect the transmission of traits from parents to offspring?
3. How do DNA and ribonucleic acid (RNA) differ?
4. In what ways do mitosis and meiosis differ? How are they similar?
5. How do gametes form, develop, and mature?
6. How will you justify the concept that the union of sperm cell and egg cell would result
in variations of traits?

Teaching Strategies Used: Direct, Interactive, and Independent-study Instructions

D. Elaboration
The students will do as indicated.
1. Visit a garden. Observe the flowering plants that you see. How would you describe the
flowers of these plants? Why do you think the plants differ from one another?
2. If they know a twin, describe them and identify some similarities and distinct differences.

IV. Evaluation

Directions: Identify if the following statement is TRUE or FALSE.

1. The chromosomes are thicker and shorter because of repeated coiling during the
prophase stage.
2. The nuclear membrane has disappeared in the metaphase stage.
3. Telophase is the final stage of mitosis.
4. Cleavage furrow is a structure forms on plant cell during cytokinesis.
5. Anaphase is the stage where there is separation of sister chromatids.

Directions: Choose the letter of the best answer.

6. How many haploid cells are formed from one cell during meiosis?
a. one b. two c. three d. four

7. What phase of meiosis do sister chromatids separate?
