15. Static Stretching- a stretch is held in a challenging but comfortable position for a
period of time, usually somewhere between 30 to 60 seconds.

16. Dynamic stretching- a stretch is performed by moving through a challenging but


comfortable range of motion repeatedly, usually 10 to 12 times.

17. Passive stretching- means you're using some sort of outside assistance to help you
achieve a stretch.
18. Active stretching- means you're stretching a muscle by actively contracting the muscle
in opposition to the one you’re stretching.

FITT
F- Frequency is how often you will perform physical activity
I- Intensify is how hard you will perform physical activities
T- Time is how long you will perform physical activities
T- Type is the kind of physical activities you will perform to develop a fitness component or
obtain a specific benefit

General Vocabulary
19. INTEGRITY- The quality of being honest and having strong moral principles; moral
uprightness. Doing the right thing even when nobody's watching.
20. EVOLVE- develop gradually, especially from a simple to a more complex form.
21. COMPLEX- Consisting of many different and connected parts. Complicated, Intricate,
Difficult.
22. Hydro- Water, H2o
23. HYDRATE- A compound, typically a crystalline one, in which water molecules are
chemically bound to another compound or an element.
24. HYDRATED- Having absorbed enough water or other liquid. The process of providing
an adequate amount of water to body tissues.
25. DEHYDRATION- Not having absorbed enough water or other liquid.
26. SYSTEMIC RACISM- Also known as institutional racism. Is a form of racism that is
embedded as normal practice within society or an organization. It can lead to such
issues as discrimanation in criminal justice, employment, housing, health care,
political power, and education, among other issues.
27. Caucasian- White-skinned; of European origin.
28. Resume- A formal document that a job applicant creates to itemize his or her
qualifications for a position/job.
29. Prevall- Prove more powerful than opposing forces; be victorious.
30. Humble- Having or showing a modest or low estimate of ones own importance.
31. AMBIGUOUS- Unclear or inexact because a choice between alternatives has not been
made.
32. FEEBLE- Lacking physical strength, especially as a result of age or illness.
33. ARRAY- An impressive display or range of a particular type of thing.
34. DEMOCRACY- A system of government by the whole population or all the eligible
members of a state, typically through elected representatives, controlled by the
majority of its members. Freedom.

Human Anatomy Vocabulary


GASTROCNEMIUS= The chief muscle of the calf of the leg, which flexes the knee and foot.
QUADRICEPS= Is one of the largest muscles in your body. It includes the four prevailing
muscles on the front of the thigh. It helps you extend your leg at the knee joint and to flex the
thigh at the hip joint.
HAMSTRINGS= is one of the largest muscles in your body. Is one of the three posterior thigh
muscles in between the hip and the knees. It helps you extend the hip and flex your knee.
DELTOID= Is the muscle forming the rounded contour of the human shoulder. It helps you
move your shoulders.
TRICEPS= Is a large muscle on the back of the upper arms. Is the muscle principally
responsible for extension of the elbow (straightening of the arm)
BICEPS= A large muscule in the upper arm which turn the hand to face palm uppermost and
flexes the arm and forearm.
TRAPEZIUS= Ls a large paried surface muscle that extends longitudinally from the occipital
bone to the lower thoracic in your back. It extends from your neck to your mid back. It moves
and supports your arms.
PECTORAUS MAJOR= A thick, fan-shaped muscle situated at the chest. It lies under the
breast. The main function as a whole is to adduction and internal rotation of the arm on the
shoulder joint. (PECS, PECTORALS)
GLUTEUS MAXIMUS= The gluteus maximus is the main extensor muscle of the hip. It is the
largest muscle in our body. It is the largest and outermost of the three gluteal muscles and
makes up a large part of the shape and appearance of each side of the hips. Its thick fleshy
mass, in a quadrilateral shape, forms the prominence of the buttocks. (GLUTES, GLUTEUS)
RECTUS ABDOMINIS= Also known as the “abnormal muscle” is a paired muscle running
vertically on each side of the anterior wall of the human abdomen. (ABS, ABDOMINALS,
stomach)
OBLIQUE= Two abdominal muscles the external and internal oblique. These provide trunk
flexion and rotation. (side of your waist)
GROIN= The area between the abdominal and the thigh on either side of the body. (the
region of the genitals)
