SPED 213 Reflections for

A Responsive Program for the Inclusive Education Sector

Class Session: Cluster B Credit: 3 Units

Name of Faculty: Bryan P. Acasio, PhD Name of Student: Aimee Joy A. Domingo

Based from Inclusive Education for Filipino On the Move: Making the Invisible Visible
by CIFAL Philippines (Link: https://youtu.be/TOlRrcoVQw) and the current situation
where our learners (in the inclusive education sector) have limitations to access in
the different modalities and materials, if given the opportunity to design a program
that will cater to these learners, what will be your content and how will you partner
with government agencies and different organizations to materialize your responsive
program?

As the education system transitions into the New Normal, The Department of
Education assures that there are various initiatives to help ensure that children with special
needs would be able to continue their education through Blended Learning and Printed
Modular Distance Learning. However, with this kind of situation we are currently facing right
now, we cannot avoid difficulties especially to the Inclusive education sector were limitations
to access in the different modalities and materials are experiencing right now.

If I would be given a chance to create a program for learners with special needs in
the new normal setting that would be “Guro at Magulang: Magtulungan para sa Magandang
Kinabukasan ng mga Bata.” With this partnership within parents and teachers, there will be
unity. In this new normal setting were there is no face to face classes, it would be really
difficult for the parents to do the teaching alone. And so, teachers will also be part of the
learning of the children by providing assistance via online, text, voice calls or face to face.
Also, including home visitation to the learners once in a while for assessment and follow up.
With this method, children with special needs will have an access to learning with the
different learning modalities of the Department of Education. Good communication between
the parents and teachers will develop trust. And with this, it would be easier to understand
the programs or plans of the schools for their children. With the help of Local Government
and the Department of Education, I will write a letter if they want to provide materials
needed like internet allowances, bond papers for the printing of Self Learning Modules and
also the learning materials needed by the learners with special needs.
