2
Prayer

God Above All Things,

In these moments while the document loads and my fingers rest on the keyboard grant me first
an emptiness.
Remove the to-do list that waits impatiently in the corner of my mind.
Quiet the voice saying, “You’re not ready, you’re not good enough, you don’t have anything to
say.”
Shield me from the imagined judgmental gaze of my advisor.
Grant me first an emptiness, an openness, a mind unchained by anxiety.
Grant me then a fullness. Where insecurity lurks, pour out confidence and curiosity.
Where there is fatigue, fill me with generosity and energy. Where there is fear, fill me with
courage.
Shelter me in your strength and quiet the world around me.
For these few hours grant me peace and solitude in my thoughts.
Bless this mind you’ve given and help me use it fully. Help me seek and push the limits of my
abilities.
Remind me that I have read enough, I have enough, I am enough,
and with time this paper will come to a place where it, too, is enough, at least for now.
I also pray for my co-classmates to be well-composed and be successful regarding the project of
the conducted research study.
Angel of God, my guardian Dear, to whom God's love commits me here, ever this day, be at my
Side, to light and guard, to rule and guide,
Glory Be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now,
and ever shall be, world without end.

In Your name I pray,

3
Amen.

Preface of The Portfolio

The Work Immersion: Research or Career Advocacy or Culminating Activity is one of

the specialized subjects of Senior High School Student under the grade 12 level. The Department

of Education (DepEd) administered this subject for one of the requirements before authorizing

the students to graduate as SHS Student. Through work immersion, young learners are able to

simulate its chosen course, to expertise and be familiar to its field in real-life.

As a Senior High School Student, I’m required to conduct a case analysis for my

requirements before being authorized as one of the listed graduating students. The case analysis

that I was administered to conduct is designing an effective canal. The canal for a specific fields

are oblige to be firm and effective for the specific area. I’ve conducted a case analysis about

implementing a Productive Canal in specific areas. The main purpose of the Productive Canal is

to produce enough revenue for its maintenance and running costs and also to recover the initial

investment made on the construction of the canal, and also for expenditure purposes.

Nevertheless, the main objectives of the Productive Canal for this case analysis are to keep the

waste waters from the drizzles or floods for an essential utilization. Waters from canals are

mainly grimy and malodorous. Therefore, a conduction of purification for this waste are essential

and authorize to keep safe utilization. The purification is convening of either: Boiling Method,

Water Chlorination, Desalination or adding scientific substances that’ll remove the griminess of

the wasted water from the canal. The outcome will be an excessive help for a certain field. Now,

instead of using the purified water for expenditure, the purified waters will be utilized for re-

usement purpose and an act of benevolence of generously proffering the purified waters to a

4
certain field that are lacking in extensive water supplies. Residence that are allocated in

mountains are mainly lacking in water reservoir, this might be a great solution for their

insufficiency of water supply.

Acknowledgement

As a young learner of this conducted portfolio, I am very grateful to those who serve as

guidance and helping-hand when convening this work immersion portfolio. The journey might

be difficult considering that conducting an analysis for canals are strenuous. Honestly, one of the

main reasons for the difficulties is due to my laziness and addiction on playing video or online

games. Nevertheless, with the accommodations of my fellow guide, it motivated me to

accomplish this case analysis. Furthermore, I am grateful to:

The Almighty God who makes all impossible things into possible.

Our Adviser, Sir Gilbert C. Baynado for being my guide and compassionate adviser in

Work Immersion. As well as, for introducing me to the field of Work of Ethics.

My faithful Parents, Brothers and Relatives, for encouraging and trusting my skills and

comprehension.

The Respondents of the Case Analysis’ Interview, for accommodating and willingly be

part as the respondents of this student portfolio.

My cuddle party, True Pillow and Heart Girl, for being my cuddle buddies 24/7, when

convening this student portfolio.

One of my friends, Millard Orais, Brianna Jules Rosal, and Josh Vincent Rabano for

accommodating my inquiries.

5
My Mentors, for being a good guidance for my simulation of my chosen course.

And to everyone, I am grateful for the guidance and support of my journey as a young

learner and for conducting the portfolio in work immersion.

Flexible Distance Schedule For Work Immersion

The Flexible Learning is a method of proffering students the freedom to conduct their

educational learning in their preferable procedure and time limit. The work immersion is the

simulation of how a student work on their chosen course. Integrating it with the Home Work

Immersion, the young learners are able to conduct their independency on expertising their

selected course with the guidance of their mentors to possess experience and basic learnings of

their field.

As a young learner, the flexible learning strategy has been a helping hand of my

hardships. Concerning the difficulties of conducting a self-study within one self’s limit.

Comprehending the new chapters of problem solving, case analyzation, critical thinking and

creativity of convening a work, these are difficult to comprehend by utterly performing a self-

study. Nevertheless, after the implementation of flexible learning for young learners to expertise

their field, this has been an appreciable enactment. The students are able to perform and practice

skills and knowledge through conducting a research study within their selected field.

The Department of Education (DepEd) one of the government agencies has proclaimed a

course requirement for graduation of Senior High School Student by convening an actual work

22
simulation. This course requirement is renowned as Work Immersion: Research or Career

Advocacy or Culminating Activity for young learners to appertain their acquired competencies,

comprehension and expertises that are relevant to their selected course. The main goal of this

implementation and qualification is to practice the skills and tactics of the student’s capability

and to serve as an application of the procured expertise of the student to monitor the alignment of

their advantage and equitable course for the upcoming new level of education, which is the

college. In addition, to aid their personal boundary and proficiency to prepare the students of

their matriculated school of its new criteria and amendments of education.

CHAPTER IV

INSIGHTS

Personal Perception To Succeed In The 21st Century Environment

In today’s century, there are various of diversity that occurred and the new learning

system is one of those diversity. The new learning system is a modern teaching comprehension

towards the education of young learners, instead of conducting a face-to-face learning system,

technologies and modules are utilized for the set of appropriate learning and health of students.

Why was this administered? This was implemented by cause of the contagious deadly virus that

is renowned as COVID-19, that continuously spreads and escalates through out this year

internationally.

As a young learner of the 21 st century, I’ve experienced various of difficulties regarding

this new learning system. Performing a self-study was never easy and I’m not a fan of it by cause

of I couldn’t grasp the highlights and comprehend the lessons just by less than an hour and self-

23
cramming. Throughout this difficulty, I’ve managed to grow accustomed to the new learning

system by conducting an online learning initially, then proceeding to modular learning system by

cause of personal and environmental problem. How did I handle this foreign system? Basically,

I’ve managed to cope up the new learning system by conducting the implementation of Flexible

Learning System. Though this, I was able to focus and comprehend a single subject successfully

by conducting researches and reading textbooks with my preferable time limit, whether I’ll

convene an all-nighter or a short amount of time of studying. Initially, this was never easy to

begin with. However, with strong dedication and patience regarding this new learning system,

we’ll be able to successfully accomplish out weekly modules or online modules, projects and

requirements.

Personal Perception of The Importance of Work Ethics

Community is the fellowship of our own nation and diversity. We are born to

communicate, aspire and manifest goodwill with our nationhood and congregation. It is our

mission to implement an act of benevolence where it’ll express our ethics in the community.

Distinguishing what is right and wrong or in short, an act of moral is never difficult to perform.

However, if the person is ignorant then justice wouldn’t prevail and the act of righteousness.

A moral person is an individual who is recognized as ethically trustworthy, equitable and

well-discipline fellow. People tend to be knowledgeable or ignorant, we are know living in the

21st century wherein we can reckon what is ethically right and wrong. Implementing the Work of

Ethics in the K-12 Program is essential. Why? Oppression and tyranny are well envisioned in

today’s society. Individuals must be more educated in today’s century by cause of we’re more

advance and reasonable. However, with strong power and manipulation, equity will not conquer.

Being impartial and knowledgeable of ethics will aid the individuals into the right path and

24
guidance to perform and aspire an act of benevolence. It is essential to understand the principles

of work of ethics. In addition, the “Six Pillars of Character” that convenes of: trustworthiness,

respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and citizenship will carry the young learners and adults to

the right path of equity. Where oppression, racism, tyranny, manipulation and other hostility

wouldn’t exist. We always state that “Life is Unfair” but with the utilization and comprehension

of the essence of work of ethics, we will be living our life to the fullest.

Comprehending and implementing a work of ethics towards young learners will guide

them to the principle of righteousness that’ll aid them to become generous, impartial, positive

intellectual and it’ll enhance their performance as an ethical person. Freedom and justice will

conquer if work of ethics is executed by every single individual.

of: Architecture, Civil Engineering, Dentistry, Human Resource Management, Nursing and

Psychology. Those are the selected course under the STEM Strand.

The tree is placed inside a 12-sided polygon, a dodecagon, which portrays our grade

level. This is the logo of Grade 12 under the Academic Track of Science, Technology,

Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) of the S.Y. 2020-2021.

Course Description

The Architecture, the course of convening of artistic skills and logical thinking. The

architecture is one of the conceptualizations that brings beauty and creativity of the structure or

building that are meant to be manufacture. It brings a diversity, an impression where the

creativity explodes within the individual’s skills and technique of beautifying the appearance of a

plainness.

The Architects has one job to express their creativity of beautification and creating a

practical premise of its clients. To be an architect, one must be passionate and has possesses a

patience within its limit. An architect has a creative visionary that expresses its skills and talents

regarding the residential premises. It manufactures a building, houses, residents, gardens and any

premises that catches the eyes and palate of the mass of individuals. Nevertheless, possessing a

mastery towards the artistic skill is one of the qualifications to be renowned as a license

26
architect. The architect must be feasibly ready for a potential projects or immersion that is related

to its own field. Writing and presenting proposals, reports, applications and contracts are

essentially necessitated. The management about the hazard free location, environment and

materials for the premise are essential for feasibility. A diverse creation is an excellency for an

individual’s palate, but a rigid and firm creation are required to meet the satisfaction of the client.

Architecture is the creation of beautification of the environment. The clients are its main

principle. Wherein, the client’s ideas and proposals are more essential, and the architect’s way of

creation and expression of artistically creating the client’s scheme are the once that manufactures

the beauty of the proposed palate. In addition, being comprehensive, understanding and wise

towards the potential projects is highly necessitated. Working hours of sketching is expected for

this course, but with patience and practical management an architect has a scintillating future. An

architecture is a visual art, and the buildings speak for themselves, where engineering are the

end.

Results of Interview-Professional and Student

As a young learner who is conducting this portfolio for one of the requirements of the

specialized subject of Work Immersion: Research or Career Advocacy or Culminating Activity, I

was administered to create a case analysis about designing a canal. After days of composing my

designed canal as an architect student, I’ve finalized a Productive Canal that is essentially

applicable for real-life circumstances.

Drafting the benefits and errors of this suggestive canal is essential to indicate either the

Productive Canal is advantageous or disadvantageous to the field. For one of the essential

components of this portfolio in work immersion, I’ve conducted an interview, that is composing

27
of: (1) What is the exception of this suggestive canal? (2) Does implementing the Productive

Canal creates a productive utilization? (3) Does the design gratify you? (4) What is your insight

according to the financial output of this canal? (5) Are you willing to enhance the mechanics and

implement the Productive Canal with me? Through this composition, I was able to accommodate

my inquiries through the sentiments of the interviewee. There are positive and negative

sentiments regarding the Productive Canal. Nevertheless, most of the interviewee are supportive

to my suggestive canal concerning that there are areas that are lacking in water supplies.

Composing an interview regarding my suggestive Productive Canal for the

implementation of the fields’ productive way of recycling a waste water from canal that are

mainly disposed in other location without a second thought of re-using it, I’ve came into

conclusion that some interviewees were gratified of my suggestion of implementing a Productive

Canal due to there are shortage extensive of water reservoir in certain location. Nevertheless,

there are sentiments indicating that there are lack of information and mechanics regarding my

suggestive canal, which I’ve taken as a lesson for my errors to indicate that I’ll improve for the

upcoming analysis or tasks.

Materials and Functions Related To The Course Planning To Take Up

 Sketchbook

- I love having a smaller sketchbook that I can take around with me everywhere I

go! This sketchbook has a dot grid that helps as a soft guide without being a solid

grid.

 Architectural Scale

28
- A fundamental tool for architecture! I always recommend getting more durable

supplies so I definitely recommend aluminum over plastic scales since they’ll be

more durable and last longer.

 Trace Paper

- Trace paper is much needed for sketching out new designs and sketching over

existing drawings! I like to get a 12" roll for smaller sketches and a 24" roll for

working over full sized drawing sets.

 Parallel Ruler

- Essential tool when hand drafting to align drawings and draw straight lines. Align

your triangles along the ruler for angled lines!

 Hot Glue Gun

- Hot glue guns are what you'll be using on study models or in places on final

models that you won’t see. You may want a mini glue gun too for tight spaces.

 Push Pins

- You'll always need push pins, lots of them. These are what you'll use to pin up

drawings for presentations as well as inspirational images at your desk. These are

much more durable than plastic pins.

 Easy Cutter

- Easy cutters a perfect for cutting things like balsa wood and wooden dowels. It

even has markers to help guide angled cuts.

 X-Acto Knife

- This is a light-duty knife used to cut thinner materials like paper - always be sure

to use a sharp blade.

29
 Desk Lamp

- An architectural desk lamp can be mounted to any table without taking up any desk

space.

 Olfa Knife

- This is a more heavy-duty knife used to cut thicker materials like chipboard and

plexiglass while making models.

 Tool Box

- I love this toolbox because it's compact, lightweight, and has lots of compartments

to organize all my tools. Be sure not to get one that’s too large as it can be difficult

to move around every semester.

 Straight Edge Ruler

- In addition to being a ruler, this straight edge has a raised edge to protect your

fingers when cutting with a blade along the ruler. It also has a non-slip grip on the

bottom so it won't slide around.

 Drafting Brush

- A drafting brush is a soft bristled brush that you can use to brush debris off your

drawings without smudging them.

 Eraser Stick

- Eraser sticks are useful when erasing small areas like when lines are close together.

 Lead Pointer

- A lead pointer is used to sharpen the lead in your lead holder. See here for how to

use it.

 Colored Markers

30
- Prismacolor markers are my favorite markers to do hand renderings with. These

markers are great because they're double sided with a broad side for when you want

broad strokes and a point side for when you need to be more accurate.

 Cutting Mat

- Cutting mats double as both a working surface for assembling models and a safe

cutting surface that won't damage your desk or knives. I recommend having a large

one and a smaller one for when you have limited space to work.

 Sketching Pencils

- Especially when first starting out, it's useful to get a set of pencils with varying

hardness for drafting by hand. Helpful tip: HB = #2 = .7mm = medium hardness.

 Mechanical Pencils

- t writes so smooth and the eraser is really soft, effective, and doesn't smudge! I

prefer to use a .7mm lead.

 Adjustable Triangle

- An adjustable triangle is great because it can be adjusted to any angle. Use this

against your parallel ruler to ensure your lines are straight.

CASE ANALYSIS RELATED TO YOUR CHOSEN COURSE

Content of The Analysis Based From Your Chosen Field

Implementing an effective and firm Canal is essential to be manufactured. A tubular

anatomical passage channel for waters is called Canal. The Canals are artificial waterways for

conveyance of water or a transportation of water for a controlled irrigation. Numbers of province

uses canals as a disposal of water from waste water, drizzle, floods or storms. However, this

disposed water can be purify and re-used for a productive purpose. A Productive Canal is

essential for barangays, province and regions that are lacking for water reservoir to supply their

deficiency. In addition, this can be utilized as an act of benevolence of aiding a contribution of

waters for those field that are lacking for water reservoir.

There are Classification of Canals Based on Different Factors, these are convening of: (1)

based on the nature of the supply source, (2) based on functions, (3) based on the type of

boundary surface soil, (4) based on the financial output, (5) based on discharge and (6) based on

canal alignment. These classifications of canals have different components and factors. The

functions and contributions of these each canals are divertive for its field.

As a young learner, I’m required to conduct a case analysis for one of the requirements of

the specialized subject of Work Immersion: Research or Career Advocacy or Culminating

Activity. Hereby as a student, I would propose a case analysis of suggesting an effective and firm

canal. This canal is called the Productive Canal, and instead of the using this revenue for an

expenditure purposes, it’ll be a generous implementation for the mass of individuals.

The cases analysis that is related to my chosen course is implementing an effective canal.

As a student who chosen the course of architecture, I’m required to design a canal. In the

Classification of Canals Based on Different Factors, I’ve chosen the Based on the Financial

Output for this case analysis. There are two designed canals for this component, these are:

Productive Canal and Protective Canal. As mentioned before, I desire to conduct an effective

32
canal that can give an act of generosity to the mass of individuals. The selected canal for this

analysis is the Productive Canal.

The Productive Canal are those which will produce enough revenue for its maintenance

and running costs and also to recover the initial investment made on the construction of the

canal. It is said to be good if it recovers 6% of its initial investment per annum, based on

research. Nevertheless, for the basis objectives of this analysis, instead of constructing a

productive canal for a revenue for the maintenance of the ongoing expenditure, the productive

canal aids the purpose of act of generosity for the fields that are lacking for water pile of

supplies.

The storm surges are constantly striking in our field by cause of the practically near

location of the Pacific Ocean Region in the Philippines, where numerous natural disasters occurs,

specifically the tropical cyclones. There are constant flooding circumstances that are caused by

drizzles or storms. Keeping a steer clear surface of roads and streets, surface drainage and canals

are attached to its fields to prevent massive flooding. The collected mass of water from the

canals are disposed from other locations, instead of supervising it to waste, this collected water

can be purify and re-used for a productive purpose. The purification might take a large amount of

time for the collective extensive grimy water, by conducting an: Boiling Method, Water

Chlorination, Clay Vessel Filtration, Desalination or adding scientific substances that’ll remove

the griminess of the wasted water from the canal. After the purification, the water can be carried

out from fields.

Insights

As a young learner of today’s century, one of the requirements in the specialized subject

of Work Immersion: Research or Career Advocacy or Culminating is to conduct a case analysis

based on the chosen course. As a Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM)

student under the Academic Track, I desire to undertake the course of Architecture by cause of

the passion of designing houses and different types of shapes and figures of palates.

Concerning the case analysis for the work immersion, I’m required to design an effective

canal in the field. The effective canal that I’ve propose is a Productive Canal. According to

Pankaj2109, “Productive -After full development of the canal system revenue obtained from the

cultivators is such that it is more than the maintenance expenditure. Thus, the productive canals

are that which adds to the wealth of nation directly”. Nevertheless, the veracious objective of this

case analysis is aiding of act of benevolence. The waste water from the canal that came from

floods or drizzles are mainly dispose to other location, I’ve started to enact a purification and

utilizing a recycled of waters to avoid waste disposal of water. Waters that came from canals are

mainly grimy and malodorous, but conducting a purification for this grimy water can be a

convenient method from circumventing a potential water. After the purification, the purified

mass of water can be generously given to fields that are lacking in water supplies, mainly the

residence that are allocated in mountains by cause of they are mainly known for shortage amount

of water reservoir. Through this, a great implementation will be aided through the conduction of

Productive Canal.

Architect Dress Code

Wearing an appropriate dress code for architects are strictly monitored. According to

ArchDaily Website, An Architectural appearance is essential to a favorable impression with

clients, and company shareholders (ie. Svehn). Good grooming and appropriate dress should

reflect an employee’s confidence in his/her aesthetic convictions and inspire others to realize that

they are dressed unimaginatively. An Architect’s attire should be minimal yet condescending at

the same time.

Managers may exercise good discretion to determine appropriateness in appearance.

Architects who do not meet a professional standard may be mocked and sent home to change.

Some basic essentials of appropriate dress include the wearing of black and the need for clothing

to be neat, clean, and expensive. Note: at no time will an employee be permitted to remove his or

her “air of superiority”.

Management may make exceptions for special occasions (ie. An employee is

exceptionally attractive, or has especially “fit” ankles). An employee unsure of what is

appropriate should check with Svehn. (Please close the door behind you).

Personal Prophecy

35
Time flies and memories only stay, it’s been 20 years since I last attended my secondary

year level at St. Peter’s Academy, wherein I was known as a Peterian. Recalling our

commencement days, it legitely leaves a shadow behind. How I remembered the enthusiastic,

energetic and compassionate batch of 2020-2021. I may not share numerous memorable and

cherished moments with them by cause of being an introvert, however, I’ve remembered their

short time companion and humor that still brings smile into my lips.

I am now at the bus station patiently waiting for my parents to fetch me. Attempting to

kill time, I’ve browsed my social media to check my architecture designs that I’ve shared in

public for self-recognition and promotion. As I was browsing, I’ve end up on my early designs

that were typical and extraordinary. Those pictures were the time that I wasn’t sure about my

decision and I ended up drafting an unusual design. Afterwards, there was a shadow in front of

me, out of curiosity I’ve looked up to see my parents smiling at me gleefully. I couldn’t help but

to embrace them with warm hugs to indicate how I’ve missed and craved for their presence and

love.

Concerning why was I in the bus station, I was administered in the capital of the

Philippines which is the Manila to continue and conduct my passion as an architect. It was

beneficial that I was able to meet the satisfaction of my clients when designing their house or if

possible, they were pleased to envision that I’ve applied my comprehension and creativity

regarding the components and principles of architecture to manufacture a desirable and

insulating premise. I am now at our home-sweet-home and I’m happily chatting with my family.

After a long chat, they’ve confessed that they plan to build a new home wherein we are more

comfortable and thrilled, they’ve decided to make me the architect for our upcoming house

36
which a delightfully accepted. Expertising the field of architecture for 20 years obliges me to

create an exquisite new home of Ecle Family.

Reflection On The Work Immersion Experience

The work immersion for today’s school year is diversify due to the deadly virus that is

continuously spreading internationally. There is a new strategy regarding the work immersion to

keep the young learners healthy and safe from the deadly virus. The implementation of work

immersion was approved by the country’s officials to maintain the safetiness of each individual.

As one of the young learners who’ll conduct a home work immersion instead of actual

simulation of how my chosen field works. Conducting a home work immersion was never easy

especially when I’m not a fan of self-study. There are mentors at home, however, they are busy

due occupation purposes and house hold chores. Nevertheless, after I was introduced to the

Flexible Learning System, I was able to manage and comprehend my chosen field. Comprising a

preferable procedure and time limit for academic purposes was a life changing and a savior.

Giving me the opportunity to lead my own time limit and schedule for my own schooling gave

me a chance study and fully comprehend the field of architecture, along with the other subjects

under Academic Track of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Strand.

Honestly, even after the implementation, the initials were not easy as this new normal is fresh

and familiar for my own comfort and learnings for management in education. But as time pass

by, I was able to cope up with the home work immersion with the aid of my mentors and

Flexible Learning System.

Concerning of improvement and expertise, I’ve conducted a research about the artistic

skills of architecture and its components in the real-life situations. Throughout the journey as a

37
young learner who is undertaking the course of architecture, I was able to be familiarized with its

field through the help of my mentors who are courageous and enthusiastic at serving a guidance

for my future as an architect. In addition, with the guidance of the media and YouTube channels,

it gave me confidence and warnings about undertaking the course of architecture.

Conclusion

The Work Immersion of Senior High School Students was implemented to conduct a

simulation of how our selected field functions and managed within once limit and patience. This

specialized subject is administered by Department of Education (DepEd) to create a supervision

of once requirement for its graduation and justification of the student’s profile.

A good quality of education is essential for the young learners’ personal development.

This’ll expertise their field for conquering a required and impressive skills and techniques that

can be envision through its performance and act of ethics. Concerning the ethics, the Department

of Education (DepEd) also implemented the work of ethics to young learners at the stage level of

Senior Highschool. The work of ethics is the act of righteousness, the diligence of being a moral

and benevolent person to its own nationhood and diverse community. This’ll improve the

student’s personification at recognizing of what is ethnically right and ethnically wrong. Through

this ethical behavior, the young learners are accomplished to create its own scheme at how

they’ll work as a student in their field. Implementing the Flexible Learning Strategy in their

management and field will provide an exceptional guidance and improvement to its ability. In

addition, through the guidance of the selected mentors for its home work immersion, this well-

experienced and trustworthy individual can influence, organize and guide the young learners’

profession and skills.

38
Home work immersion is a diverse method for simulating the young learner’s field. It

might be foreign and unusual to their capability and comprehension, however, this is an effective

method to keep the safetiness of the students while their conducting a research and

comprehension regarding the subjects of their chosen strand. Implementing this new normal is

very foreign for the mass of individuals, mainly when its unpredictive and unexpected for the

nature. This’ll aid the young learners to be a scout and productive for its self-implementation.
