8
HOW DO WE PUT IN-TEXT CITATIONS?

We will be using the

APA (American Psychological Association) Style
in citing our references.

We place an in-text citation in the beginning or

end of the paraphrased passage to make it easier
for the reader to see.

9
HOW DO WE PUT IN-TEXT CITATIONS?

There are two ways:

1. According to Jones (1998), using the APA style is usually

difficult for students who try it for the first time.

2. APA style is a difficult citation format for first-time learners

(Jones, 1998).

An in-text citation always includes the last name/s of the

author/s and the date the reference was published.

10
HOW DO WE PUT IN-TEXT CITATIONS?

Take note:
▹ If either the last name of the author or the year it was
published is not available, you may do the following:
▸ APA style is a difficult citation format for first-time
learners (n.a., 1998).
▸ APA style is a difficult citation format for first-time
learners (Jones, n.d.).
However, if the reference is missing
either of these, consider looking for
a more credible and recent source.
