(1) A 3000 / 200 V, 50 HZ, 1-phase transformer is built on a core having in effective cross-
sectional area of 150 cm2and has 80 turns in low voltage winding. Calculate:-
a) The maximum flux density in the core.
b) The number of turns in the high voltage winding.

(2) Assume that an ideal transformer is used to step down 13.8 KV to 2.4 KV and that it is
fully loaded when it delivers 100 KVA. Determine the following:-
a) Its turn’s ratio.
b) The rated currents for each winding.
c) The load impedance, corresponding to full load.

(3) The no load current of a transformer is 0.5 A at 0.3 power factor when supplied at 230 V,
50 HZ. The number of turns on the primary winding is 200. Calculate:-
a) The maximum value of flux in the core.
b) The core loss.
c) The magnetizing current.

(4) 50 KVA, 4400 / 220 V, transformer has R 1 = 3.45 ohm, R2 = 0.009 ohm, the value of
reactance’s are X1 = 5.2 ohm and X2 = 0.015 ohm. Calculate for the transformer:-
a) Equivalent impedance as referred to be the primary and secondary.
b) Total cu losses.

(5) A 230 / 460 V, transformer has a primary resistance of 0.2 ohm and reactance of 0.5
ohm and the corresponding values of secondary are 0.75 ohm and 1.8 ohm respectively.
Find the primary voltage when supplying 10 A at 0.8 pf lagging at rated voltage. Also find
the voltage regulation at this load.

(6) 20 KVA, 2200 / 220 V, 50 HZ, distribution transformer is tested as follow:-


O.C.T 220 V, 4.2 A, 148 W, L.V side
S.C.T 86 V, 10.5 A, 360 W, H.V side
Determine:-

a) Core loss.
b) Equivalent circuit referred to primary side.
c) Regulation of transformer at 0.8 pf lagging.
d) Efficiency at ½ F.L at 0.8 pf lagging.

(7) A 200 KVA transformer has an efficiency of 90 % at full load. If the maximum efficiency
occurs at three quarters of full load, Calculate:-
a) Iron loss.
b) Cu loss at F.L.
c) Efficiency at half load.
Ignore magnetizing current and assume a p.f. of 0.8 at all loads.

(8) An 11000 / 230 V, 150 KVA, 50 HZ, 1- phase transformer has a core losses of 1.4 KW and
full load Cu losses of 1.6 KW. Determine
a) The KVA load for maximum efficiency and the maximum efficiency.
b) The efficiency at half full load at 0.8 power factor lagging.
