objective for this lesson

1. Distinguish fact from belief

B. During the lesson

Fact is something which can be verified with

evidences and is provable, observable and
measurable. Those are statements that can be
proven by reliable authority or information such
as based on statistics, scientific law, history
book and others.

For example, Ferdinand Marcos is the former Because it is based in history book and
president of the Philippines. provable.

Why do you think it’s a fact?

Very Good! This is statement is a fact because

it is provable by history.

On the other hand, belief is a conviction based

on cultural or personal faith, morality, or
values.
“Yes/No sir.

A belief is a thought that we’ve decided is true,

but it doesn’t have to be.

For example,
God is with me all the time.

This however cannot be distinguished as fact

because it has not been proven yet. However, it
can be a belief because you believed in your
religion that God is with you all the time.

Even if everyone agreed with this statement, it

is still a belief because it is not provable. Well,
a belief is not necessarily wrong; it is merely
not a provable fact. Though a belief may be
widely accepted, that does not make any fact.

Understand? Yes sir.
